Thursday, 11 June, 2026⁠ Opening: ‘Where We Land’⁠ ⁠ OSCAM presents ‘Where We Land’, the first solo exhibition by Paramaribo-based painter Vanity Wezer. Opening on June 11, 2026, as part of the Young OSCAM Art Kitchen (YOAK), the exhibition explores how place shapes the way we inhabit ourselves, experience time, and find meaning in the everyday. In figurative paintings, Wezer captures moments of landing: the quiet, everyday rhythms of life in Suriname.⁠ ⁠ Working with acrylic on canvas, she brings together scenes from her daily life and the natural environment of Suriname. Her paintings reflect the climate, landscape, and rhythm of the country, showing how surroundings influence the way we experience time and inhabit space.⁠ ⁠ As a self-taught painter and part of the interdisciplinary creative collective LFMC (Lowrey Foley McClane), Wezer explores how heritage lives on in gestures, routines, silences, and the spaces we occupy. Zondag 10 mei was er een verdiepende talk rond onze Toys Are Us expositie in Theater Rotterdam. Deze was o.l.v. @rightaboutnowinc ’s @vanhintemaarten . We hadden het over onze werkwijze en de totstandkoming van het werk. De talk ging verder ook over beeldvorming en macht. Door de figuren als actiehelden of juist als schurken te presenteren, bevraagt Toys Are Us hoe geschiedenis wordt verteld, verpakt en doorgegeven. Wie krijgt een heldenstatus? Wie wordt vergeten of veroordeeld? En wie heeft de macht om dat verhaal te bepalen? Thanks for having us @theaterrotterdam . Van woensdag 6 mei t/m zondag 10 mei is ‘Toys Are Us’ in Theater Rotterdam (Schouwburgplein 24). Voor wie kan en/of in de buurt is, kom langs. De tentoonstelling is elke dag van 14:00 tot 17:00 uur geopend en van woe t/m zaterdag ook van 19:00 tot 22:00 uur. Zondag 10 mei hebben we een publiek programma van 13:30 tot 15:00 uur, gemodereerd door @rightaboutnowinc ’s @vanhintemaarten . LFMC’s @macloffit , @brianelstak en @giuseppeducrocq schuiven daarbij aan, @dionneverwey draagt op eigen wijze het verhaal van Ma Pansa voor en @hayzeewave zorgt voor de sound selection tijdens in- en na afloop van de talk.
