Visitors to the Gallery have been captivated by Marlene Hilton Moore’s 𝑊ℎ𝑖𝑡𝑒 𝑄𝑢𝑖𝑙𝑡. The phrase “the heart is an organ of fire,” which hung in Moore’s studio for many years, is stitched into the work and reflects the emotional intensity often connected to the heart, such as love, anger, passion, and care.
The words invite viewers to reflect on the ways emotions can warm us, drive us forward, yet overwhelm us all at once. What does “the heart is an organ of fire” mean to you? ❤️

At age 102, Françoise Sullivan was just awarded the Medal of Honor from the National Assembly of Quebec. Sullivan is the last living member of Les Automatistes. Her art practice as a painter, dancer, choreographer, photographer, sculptor, conceptual artist and writer spans over eight decades.
Placed the wonderful diptych in the first slide a few years back with a private client. 📸 @lfdocumentation
The next work , seen recently on our trip to Montreal, is currently exhibited @pangee.pangee

👗 On Thursday, April 23 from 12–1 PM, the MacLaren will host "A Woman, A Place and a Dress," a special Art for Lunch conversation with exhibiting artist Marlene Hilton Moore and curator Sandra Fraser, focusing on the themes found in 𝑇ℎ𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑠. 👗
Featured within the exhibition are Moore’s meticulous portraits of women close to her. Each portrait in the exhibition features a woman with a specific relationship to Moore, a dress that the artist created specifically for her subject, and a place that held personal meaning. Together, these images weave intimate stories of identity, memory, and the connections between women, place, and the garments they wear.
If you’re looking for deeper insight into Moore’s work and the ideas behind 𝑇ℎ𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑠, this conversation offers a wonderful opportunity to hear directly from the artist and curator! Visit our website to learn more and reserve your spot for this free event. Registration is encouraged, but not required.

Been taking a break from social media, but wanted to share this photo of my Valentine 💌 in Montreal by the talented 📷 Piera Palucci.
I started sending out Valentine’s cards of my art years ago during a period of serious heartache 💔. My network spans the globe 🌎, and I add new people each year. My brother prints them for free, but I still pay for stamps, which means I can’t send to everyone. Older contacts eventually rotate off the list, but please know I still love you! 😘
Happy belated Valentine’s 💌 Day! (I didn’t write personalized notes on every card this year, there’s a lot on my plate. But they were sent with love.)
❤️ Yours always, D.
