Over the past 1.5 years, my studio has felt the closest to home. I can’t put into words how much this time has meant to me – both personally and professionally. So much happened here. So many memories, hundreds of late-night sessions, long work hours, hanging out with friends, sad and happy moments, chess matches. I’m grateful to everyone who was part of this. I’ll never forget it. On to the next chapter!!!

Research notes on Somali windhounds.
Last November I spent a month in Somaliland. I kept taking photos of these dogs without knowing what breed they were. The Sloughi, often referred to as the Somali Greyhound, has worked alongside nomadic communities for generations.
I only started researching Somali dogs after a long dinner discussion with my family about whether dogs are haram and how they’ve been used historically (especially after my Doberman series it was a big topic for them). While looking into it, I came across these images. I don’t know the photographers or the locations. But the images feel close to the sketches and paintings I’ve been working on lately.
