ONCE UPON A DANCE STUDENT CHOREOGRAPHER HIGHLIGHT 🌟ALEXIS GOODWIN🌟
“the Kore of our womanhood: Persephone’s Story” is a commercial style jazz work commenting on societal expectations of womanhood through the story of mythological goddess, Persephone, and her development as “Queen of the Underworld”. With the layer of musical storytelling by pop icon, Lady Gaga, we feel the nuance of nonfiction through a tempestuous fictional tale.
Alexis Goodwin is from Clinton, Massachusetts, pursuing her BFA in Dance, minor in Communications. She values her roles at ECU as NHSDA President, Pointe TA and Mat Pilates instructor. As a student, she has been fortunate enough to teach in Nairobi, Kenya and perform in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Post-graduation, Alexis aspires to get her Master’s in Communications and tour the world with a musical artist as dancer and choreographer.

i can’t believe our rehearsal process has come to an end. i am so grateful to have been granted this opportunity and work with this amazing group. i have been developing this specific piece for just over a year, been applying since 2024, and dreamt of choreographing for a Lossein Playhouse Production since my first month at ECU. here is a little accumulation of my favorite videos from choreography labs, my applications, and rehearsals to give insight on this process. happy night one of tech week!!! 🖤
