JT Comet is in the works 🛠🪚📐
For a while,
@nika.langosz and I had been discussing a potential collaboration. Early on, we gathered far too many references from all sorts of type genres, which led to a mild case of typographic traffic jam. 🤗
Eventually, Nika drafted the first sketches of JT Comet. Our earliest references included Herold Reclameschrift by Heinz Hoffmann for H. Berthold, but as Nika put it:
“When I started working on this typeface, I didn’t think about reviving it, there are already digital versions that are very faithful to the original. It’s more like a contemporary idea of Herold and its knockoffs.”
We wanted JT Comet to develop its own character, a softer, rounder design.🌟
When
@levtype joined July Type for his internship last November, he jumped straight into developing the Cyrillic. We liked the dynamic between the three of us, so we decided to develop the typeface together.
