My EP “Forty Sixing” is out today in full on Turnland Records. Even though putting this one out into the world comes with its fair share of insecurities, I’m super stoked that it’s finally out and it means a lot to me that this is finally seeing the light. Over the past years, I’ve often caught myself wondering why I make music in the first place, what really drives me, what I’m looking for and why sharing it matters to me. Working on this EP helped me figure some of that out a bit better. I won’t go into all the details, because it would take way too long. But one thing I do want to shed some light on is the importance of the relationships and friendships around me and this release is in several ways a testament to them. Thanks @felice_ftl @chrische_mb @alexander.von.hoersten @christiannicolaus @crocodile_funk @lghtbrkr @djeurovox @_flowo Igor and my girlfriend @krlnmkls for the input and impact you had on the process and on me leading up to this one. Here, percussive beats meet dubby techno elements that blend with deep pads and old-school chords. Despite the broad genre mix, Gustav manages to create a coherent narrative through consistent and compelling sound design. Forty Sixing is catchy and club-ready as an EP without losing its melancholy and depth.
