CAT AMONG THE PIGEONS - FIRST IMPRESSIONS 🪶😼🌈 Catch the pigeons & avoid pesky cats in this new card game, coming to Kickstarter at the end of the month! Full review on the blog now! But there’s a cat-ch: you can’t win while you have any sneaky cats in your hand! On your take as many moves as you like, as many times as you like: ⚠️ Play an action card & do what it says (they do various things like swapping/stealing cards) 🪶 Discard 2 pigeons of the same colour & draw a new card 😼 Discard (exactly) 3 cats Draw a card to end your turn. And if at any point on your turn you have 7 of the same coloured pigeons and NO CATS, you win! OUR FIRST IMPRESSIONS 😻 Cat Among the Pigeons is super quick to learn and super quick to play. I’d play it more with family and casual gamers, but it also works with hobby board gamers looking for something lighter. 😼 The ‘anti-win’ Cats (like Flux creepers!) are my favourite element & add a twist to the typical card game set collecting. Offloading cats (or gambling to collect 3) is where a lot of the interesting gameplay is. 😺 I love the art design of the pigeons and cats! The designers included different types of pigeons (all slightly derpy) and cats (all slightly sassy) - and they all have names! 😾 Sometimes you can have a few turns in a row where you only draw a card each time & while this wasn't normally an issue, I noticed it more in bigger/chattier groups where rounds where turns weren’t as quick. VERDICT 👩‍⚖️ Cat Among the Pigeons is exactly what it says on the tin: an easy-to-play family-friendly set collector with sassy cats! It’s accessible enough for my family & entertaining enough for a gamenight filler. Family card games are a dime a dozen, but the tricky cats and quirky character design is what made this one stand out to me. I’m looking forward to introducing it to more of my family. Cats Among The Pigeons Review 🐦🐈🌈 (Loaned for review by @level46games via @ukbg_review_circle ) In Cats Among The Pigeons you are trying to collect 7 of the same colour pigeons to win. However, if there are some cats still lurking in your hand then unfortunately you can't get the win! On your turn players can either discard 2 matching coloured pigeons and draw a new card, discard 3 cat cards, or play an action card. Action cards are there to help you or screw over your opponents. You can do any of these 3 options as many times as you are able to on your turn. Once you can't play any more cards, you simply draw a card and end your turn. 🐦 My thoughts: The concept is a really great idea, I like that you can play as many cards as possible on your turn within the turn parameters. Gameplay is simple yet fun, and can get quite competitive. We had a good laugh playing, especially when you pick an action card that trades a card with an opponent and you both just pass each other a cat. 🐈 Things I like: - I love the artwork on the cards, its so bright and appealing - The cards having the card type written down the side so you can always see what it is when you fan the cards out - The action card guide is really helpful 🐦 Things that could be an issue: - As there is a big variety of different colours of pigeon cards, you can go quite a few rounds without getting 2 matching colours - The amount of cards you can end up with in your hand can be overwhelming for younger players. The game is advertised at 6+ but my 8yr old couldn't hold all the cards in their hands Overall, I really enjoyed playing with both my partner and kids. Its a good set collection game. 🌈 Sidenote: I think the game could benefit from a variant option for 2 or 3 player groups, where you remove some sets of colours so gameplay moves quicker. #boardgame #gaming #cardgame #boardgamecommunity #setcollection

💫First Impressions Friday 💫 ✨Happy Friday! 💃This week I’m talking about Cats Among the Pigeons by @level46games . This was loaned to me via @ukbg_review_circle but all opinions are my own. ✨ Overview ✨ Cats among the Pigeons is a set collection game with a simple aim, collecting 7 pigeons of the same colour to win. However if you have a cat in your hand you can’t win until you’ve shooed it away. 🎲 Gameplay 🎲 On your turn you can do any of the three available moves as many times as you want (or not at all). The moves include; Playing an action card - they will allow you to do various different things to help you get a winning hand or just cause some chaos among players. Discard two unwanted pigeons of the same colour to draw an additional card Discard 3 cat cards. You’ll then draw a card to end your turn. If on your turn you have a winning hand you’ll show your hand to declare victory and end the game. 💭First Impressions💭 🎨Art/components - Great artwork, I love the designs on the cards and the pigeons cards are all brightly coloured. 🎓Learning/teaching - So easy to learn, there’s very few rules (see above). The only other things to know are the action cards but they are clearly explained on the cards with some extra clarifications in the rules if needed. ⌚Set up/time to play - No set up, just shuffle and deal cards. We only played with 2 players so it was quite quick to play. I can see with more players it taking slightly longer. It's very easy to play a few games in a row. 💁‍♀️Solo? - No solo mode, but it’s not needed, not much fun to be playing action cards on yourself! 💫Vibe - Chaotic and fun. It would be a great game to play with children and introduce them to the idea of set collection and gentle “take that” actions. 💜Overall view - This was fun, we enjoyed it but it would definitely shine at higher player counts with more chaos and more players to pass cats to etc. It’s on the simpler side for us so not one we would add to the collection but if you’re after a simple but fun game to play with children, or at higher player counts, this would be perfect. #firstimpressionsfriday hosted by @nerdygirlgaming Ad/loaned

To put the cat among the pigeons means to cause panic in an otherwise calm situation. Now I've driven my car at pigeons who stubbornly refuse to get out the way so I'm not sure they'd panic about anything, let alone a cat. But will @level46games have YOU panicking in this quick and colourful set collection card game? In Cats Among The Pigeons you'll be racing to collect 7 pigeons of the same colour flock. As soon as you do, you win the game! To do so you'll be drawing from the draw deck and using action cards to search the discard pile, draw extra cards & take from your opponents. There's only 8 cards of each colour so you need to keep a keen eye for what the other players are picking up & discarding, Hoard those rainbow pigeons as they count as any colour, it's a tough ask to win without them. You'll also need to make sure you're not holding any cat cards, either by using action cards to discard them or discarding 3 as an action. You can't win if there are... cats among the pigeons! 👇 F I R S T   I M P R E S S I O N S 👇 😼 We feel it's a game best played at 3+ players. When you're collecting sets from a central pool, more players spread those resources around. It then becomes much more fun keeping track of what everyone has & knowing when to hold on to your action cards 😼 This would be a great game for kids or family game nights. The cards are colourful and fun and the rules easy to understand 😼 For other groups this would be a good filler game with plenty of interaction and minimal setup 😼 Turns are quick and the game flows well with lots of different actions to keep things interesting 🐱 The illustrations are really fun, we love that each cat card is a different character 🐱 We liked that the cards clearly say what 'type' they are on the left hand side, which means when you're holding lots of cards, you can easily see what you have.  There's less than 72 hours left on their Kickstarter if you want to back it before it's too late! Cats Among the Pigeons from @level46games is a quick and easy set collector with a healthy dose of “take that!” mixed in for fun! In this game, players will be trying to collect 7 pigeon cards of the same flock. Along the way, you’ll be adding cards to your hand while sabotaging your opponents with action cards. Once you get 7 matching pigeon cards in your hand (wild cards are ok) then you’re the winner! Unless of course you have a cat card in your hand. The cat cards act like the “old maid” card, and you can’t win with a cat. So you’ll need to try and swap out that cat card with another player or discard them if you have 3. This one is live on Kickstarter right now and they’ve already obliterated their goal and are at 300+% heading into the last two weeks! So if you’re a fan of lighthearted “take that” style card games, make sure to check this one out!
