Yesterday our bill AB 746 passed Public Safety, its second committee! The Community Reinvestment Act is one step closer to becoming a reality — thank you again Assemblymember McKinnor for being our champion!
The Community Reinvestment Bill, AB 746, had its first hearing in the Committee on Labor and Employment last week and passed 6-0! This is the first of many hearings the bill will have, but we are so excited to continue gathering support and co-sponsors. Thank you @asmtinamckinnor for your incredible work and leadership on this bill
LUCI is sponsoring the Community Reinvestment Bill (AB 746), an important bill in the California State Legistlature. AB 746 will allow for the creation of cooperatives inside of California prisons, which will empower incarcerated people with meaningful employment opportunities, financial literacy, and cooperative business training while improving reentry pathways to end the perpetuating cycles of trauma, poverty, and crime.
