Outer Space/ Inner Worlds has been extended through March 29. I would love for people to see this show! Curated by Matt Distel, organized by Linda Schwartz/ Alternate Projects. Very grateful to both for their sharp and generous curation. Plus a total honor to be paired with three artists whose work kicks my ass in the best way— Mike Jacobs, Dan Kopp, Chris Vorhees.
These dozen+ lines from Matt’s statement confirm for me that somehow, after a meandering & long time, I must be on a right path: “ When I’m in front of these things, I think I change a little. Temporarily at least. Quesenberry makes me stop. Pause. Wait for the lights to change. Wait for my eyes to change. To become more aware of my own body. To become less aware of what exists behind me. To really look at a thing. I take in her work the way I take in a natural landscape or some impressive vista. The scale, of course, is different but only physically. I find that Quesenberry’s work opens up expanses that feel infinite and simultaneously intimate. No matter their physical size, they are massive. Yet, no matter their physical size, they belong to just me. For whatever period of time I get to be in front of them and then they linger for a while after that. “
thank you @mattdistel 💗
