Backstory:
I remember downloading Instagram on April 3, 2012. I was so excited about the possibility of this app.
Between Facebook and Instagram, the possibilities for my business and my life completely changed. It's because of what these platforms were that I was a keynote speaker in Spain for the @celebrantscollective , working with the @iapwo and spoke several times at @weddingmba . These platforms helped me connect with and guest on the @evolveyourweddingbusiness podcast as well as launch several podcasts of my own. And that's not to mention how it furthered my officiant career in innumerable ways. All this because of who I connected with here. So many amazing people; clients, collaborators, and colleagues alike.
But Meta's exploitation of its users and their content outweigh the benefits for my little business. The actual human connection seems utterly unimportant as Meta is all about AI and profit over people. So I'm out.
But I'm a Millennial. I've seen dozens of apps rise and fall. So don't worry, I'll be out here on these internet streets! (Links on the website with the bink in lio.) And while it is goodbye to Instagram, I'll never forget how much this app changed my life for the better.
