10th May was an exciting one indeed! We were welcomed to our first book fair as a collective by @byobfair where around 150 peers and participants interacted with one another. The day brought to our stand some great conversations, book exchanges, positive validations and an opportunity to meet some new people. ‘The Tip of the Tongue of the Tip’, a collective publication edited, designed and produced with our peers @thecriticalinquirylab was our topic for engaging conversations at the fair. A big thank you to the team @byobfair , we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. DM for more details of the book which is also available for sale! Also, some beautiful clicks 📸 by Sophia Xu and Charlie Spiegelfeld🫰

What does collectivity mean within a design practice? Our next conversation on giving meaning to the concept and practice of collectivity within design and our society. We have a reflecting conversation on how @morgaestudio navigates the intricacies of collectiveness, design and continue to develop their practice further. In this dialogue we were inspired by @stein.obst and @studiohejt by their experience in setting up their studio, developing their practice online and offline, together and in tandem with other collective species @ferment.ors Leaving us with thoughts for the next conversations as to how we care and want to care for each other within the competitive and changing field of design. Navigating the imbalances of care, because nothing is absolute. Stay tuned for more such conversations coming your way! 📸 @lets_gettothepoint 🎙️ @morgaestudio @lets_gettothepoint

* What is your story? * Why are designers drawn towards the idea of a collective? * How and what does ‘collectiveness’ reflect within the realm of design? We start with these questions and bounce off many more to understand the concept of ‘collectiveness’ and ‘solidarity’ and how it speaks of and within the community we choose. In conversation with our first guests @t0tally0fft0pic we touch and explore themes of exclusion and inclusion, community and individuality and so much more. Over some tasty bites, in the setup of a dinner table conversation we embrace a research methodology that reflects upon anecdotes that speak from the personal and connect it to wider selected knowledges within the field to get to the point! Stay tuned for more such conversations coming your way! 🎙️ @t0tally0fft0pic @lets_gettothepoint 📸 @lets_gettothepoint

Barbara Vignaux, (she/her) Through her practice, Barbara designs and creates installations as a means of researching and expressing her ideas. With a strong affinity for product and visual design, she delves into her obsessive topic of bureaucracy and its influence on design. This exploration is evident in her works like ‘Conditioning Playgrounds’ and the project ‘An Imaginary Playground’ in games and movies. Barbara questions the status quo of city playground infrastructures, advocating for redesigned archetypes that promote better social justice. She eagerly wants to work with community members who play various roles in the topic she focuses on. She aims to create games and activities to draw them into the circle, pausing to delve deeper into the key questions she’s highlighted. more at @intuitivestudio_ As individual practitioners all three of us have the urge to start discussions and pause for reflections while encompassing our research and selective knowledges into workshop formats that make getting to the point more fun! For more info on our practices reach out to us via email (in bio) or DM. Seek and we shall have a way to create this system of collectiveness.  Captions :

We started our collective journey with a very important step for each of us personally; questioning. We are not only asking questions about social norms, interesting topics and current politics, but questioning the role of 'the collective'. What do we want to learn? Why do we want to learn in a collective? What topics interest us and why do they deserve multiple voices to be heard? Sharing part 1/2 of our first collective workshop. With this came the idea of delving deeper into the authenticity of the word collective and how collectives can be empowered to make change happen. Stay tuned for a podcast series coming soon to discover 'the collective and collectivity'.

Together is always better! In collectiveness, in solidarity and with many perspectives on the tray, we try our best to get to the point with the three of us and every design researcher who needs help finding their way!
