Some of my favorite details from Sarah & MJ’s beautiful Joshua Tree wedding. 🥹💕🥰 What’s NOT pictured here is the work of our team, vendors and clients for tirelessly working through high winds, rolling with the punches and making pivots as needed. Sometimes the wedding and events industry jokes about or glorifies how hard the job is, and yes, it definitely can be. For me, though, it’s trulyyyy not preferred for things to go wrong or be difficult; I suppose I don’t mind the pressure, because it makes me feel ALIVE sometimes lol, but let’s be real, it’s never fun when shit hits the fan.  That said, my job as the planner  lis to make sure the events are executed as best as possible within the parameters of circumstances, including weather, which is 100% out of our control. When I first started, I used to beat myself up for things going wrong, but after so many years, you learn that’s just the part of the game and process. ❤️💜💗💛💙💚 It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day of everything I have to do, but it’s not every day I’m reminded of why I do what I do. So I try and hold those moments close. I’ll always remember when Sarah & MJ first reached out, asking if we had experience planning same-sex weddings and if we were comfortable doing so. To me, the answer was clear: yes and yes. However, as we worked together on their special day, I learned that not everyone they approached shared the same sentiment. We all got a little emotional during that particular meeting. Even though it was a somber reminder that not everyone supports love in all forms, it certainly reinforced my commitment to inclusivity. We’re still swooning over this beautiful Korean Paebaek ceremony from Sarah and Mary Jean’s amazing wedding weekend in Joshua Tree 🥹🥹🥹. We especially loved this custom backdrop and set up by @livelovecreate , with a modern take on the traditional style using red and blue attire and elements. It was perfect against the desert landscape. PRO TIP: many couples have this ceremony on the wedding day during cocktail hour, which totally works; but I find that sometimes, it gets rushed through, and the couple does not have any down time either the attire change back and forth and participating in the Paebaek ceremony. A great day to do this is the day or so before during welcome drinks, or rehearsal dinner. That way, it can be a little more relaxing for the couple and the guests enjoy some programming as well.
