This week we kicked off our first RuralArtConnect residency and workshop at Maajaam! 💥 “More Effort, Some Function” – led by Leopold Inkapööl – brings together artists from Southern Estonia and Latvia’s Vidzeme/Kurzeme region for playful experimentation and creative exploration. RuralArtConnect is a collaborative project by Maajaam and Savvaļa, aimed at strengthening art communities in rural areas. Over the course of a year, the project will host four different workshops – two at Maajaam and two at Savvaļa. The first workshop at Maajaam, “More Effort, Some Function”, will be led by Leopold Inkapööl. Participants will have the opportunity to create an interactive installation or object, embracing experimentation, discovery, and playfulness – whether through humor or an unexpected approach. The call is open to three artists from Southern Estonia and three artists from the Vidzeme/Kurzeme region of Latvia. I helped Estonian artist @timo.toots to realise his sound sculpture “Tintinnebula” this summer at @maajaam.ee It is a permanent public installation that is now standing in front of a new school in the city of Rakvere, Estonia.

LISTEN WITH HEADPHONES Omniphonium Graduation project DAE 2022 Human hearing is very good at defining where a sound comes from. We can hear what is behind us, or around the corner. But normally we only listen to music through one or two speakers, flattening the experience we are able to have. With this project I hope to draw peoples attention to their hearing sense and make them listen. Omniphonium is an interactive sound installation that lets you play with the spatial dimension of sound. Each ring on the controller triggers a sound. Rotating the rings move the sounds around you in the room. #ddw22 #gs22
