In Hawaii it is a Wa’a. In Fiji, they call it Takia or Camakau. Whatever you call it, it is perhaps the single most important piece of Pacific Island culture. It allowed the migration from island to island, as well as a means of fishing, trade, transportation, and yes…. just getting out there and having fun.
