The first thing I do after receiving the material I’m asked to work with (usually digital) is print it on different types of paper and start playing around to get a feeling for how the various elements and media can come together to form something new and super tactile. I lovelovelove getting away from the screen for this and just seeing what clicks.

I could have just ordered a weekly calendar online, but instead I layouted every page individually in Indesign, printed them, hand cut each page, made the cover from scratch, wrapped them in linen paper and bound everything together. looooove <3

My favorite mixed media frames 💗
Mixed media is already so fast and layered, so I love slowing it down by picking a single element, toll or technique first (crayon, sequins, weaving, glitter…) and building all the motion around it.
By limiting myself to one tool, I end up experimenting more with timing, shapes, movement, color and always find a new way of using it (even when I thought I‘d already tried everything).
