Back in August my kids and I attended an evening gathering where @jackiehillperry shared a powerful message. She spoke about how we as believers need to tell our story. I was deeply impacted by her words. On the heels of her speaking, Josh Baldwin ministered this song and let me tell you…God used both of them that evening to touch my soul. I have listened to this song everyday since and it is a beautiful reminder of who we are in Christ. When all else fails, we can have confidence in the one who paid it all. 🙏🏽

When I married @philipamitchell back in 2004, my hubby had student loans of over 30k (I didn’t have any student loan debt, thanks mom and dad!). After many years of deferment and accumulated interest we ended up with over 40k of student loan debt. 🤦🏽♀️

As our 40th birthdays approached in 2018 I had a goal of finally paying off this loan which was our last debt. We had already paid off all our other consumer debt (appx 60k 🤦🏽♀️) and the last debt on our journey was my hubby’s student loan. I was sick and tired of having this debt over our heads. But due to life it didn’t happen. My heart was so disappointed. I did not want a legacy of debt to run in our family. I wanted to set our family on a different course.

So after regrouping and planning a new strategy for paying off this debt, we set out to make this dream a reality.

After months of saying no to eating out, saying no to buying clothes, saying no to going places, saying no to excessive spending and eating beans and rice many, many days (which we happen to love any way 😋) and by the grace of God (Thank you Jesus!) I am now so excited to say good bye Sally Mae!! We had a love affair for a while but now we are done!!! ___
No consumer debt, no car loan debt, no collections debt, no credit card debt and now.....no student loan debt! After years of sacrifice and unwavering determination we celebrate almost $100,000 paid off!!!! ___
As of May 2020, we owe no man anything but to love them!! (Romans 13:8)
