This wall means the world to me. Items from the 1917 to 2026 featuring my great grand parents, Lem and Annie Reed and their impact on Kentucky’s history.
Their legacy lives on through our stories, our archives, and how we share their love.
Come check out the history on this wall while sipping on a cup of coffee. We are here until 2 today.
Come out of your turtle shell this Valentine’s Day with a drink from Lem’s Cafe!
This year’s valentine drink special is “turtle” themed.
It can be served hot or iced, dripped with chocolate and caramel sauce and topped with whipped cream!
The perfect sweet treat for you or your favorite turtle 🐢💕☕️
Happy Dr. King Day. Today, Lem’s Cafe will be open until 12 PM, and after closing, we will be attending the Concerned Parents of Nelson County’s annual Dr. King Celebration at St. Monica’s Church in Bardstown, KY. We invite you to attend as well! Lem’s great-grandson, Desmond, will be one of the performers.
First signed into federal law in 1983 by President Ronald Reagan, Dr. King’s birthday has been observed as a Federal Holiday on the third Monday of January since 1986.
Each year, I try to learn something new about Dr. King, his legacy, and his activism—something that I didn’t learn in school or my personal reading.
Over the years, I have read his Letter from Birmingham Jail, I’ve learned how his wife, the late Coretta Scott King led the charge for the federal holiday, and I have observed (and lived) correlations between the 1960s Civil Rights Movement and the fight for democracy we are in today.
Today, I invite you to attend an event, to learn something new, or to open your mind to new possibilities. And if you happen to be Downtown, come into Lem’s Cafe and share with me what you have learned. We are here until noon.
