Who is MARIA???
Maria is from the old world, before the apocalypse that created the wasteland. She is waking up now, centuries later, and must come to terms with losing her entire world? But what happened to it?
The name Maria carries multiple meanings, deeply rooted in its Hebrew origins. One prevalent interpretation of the name Maria is “bitterness. Despite the challenges she faced, Maria’s story showcases resilience.
Who is MAZZA???
Mazza is a lazy city kid, who is more interested in enjoying his youth than understanding his responsibilities. Unfortunately for him, the coming of age ceremony is inevitable & he will be kicked out of his home to survive a year in the wasteland and prove himself.
Mazza is short for MASINISSA, based on the Numidian king who unified tribes of the Maghreb. Fighting against the Romans during the 2nd Punic war before allying with them and triggering the third Punic war, ending in the destruction of Carthage. He cleared the way for the spread of Rome across the Mediterranean basin. Numidia stretched across modern day Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia. By 25BCE, Rome had annexed the kingdom. Wikipedia claims “masinissa is largely viewed as an icon by the berbers, many of whom consider him their forefather”
If so, he is a link between the Northern European Roman heritage and that of North Africa
