Testing a shunt-L matching network to improve the resonance of a 3 element Yagi at 137.6 - 145 MHz (2m) before attaching the feed line. SimNEC is your friend. SWR 1.09 at 137.6 with a Q factor of 0.07. Used YagiCAD to tweak initial design, optimized for “OWA overall”. To be used for NOAA satellites and repeaters like SO-50. #ham
4-way reconfigurable L-matching tuner prototype (thanks K7RAW!). I added two more switches to override the coil and/or capacitor since neither goes all the way to zero.
With handmade tuner using an adjustable air core inductor (L network with variable capacitor), was able to move up the min SWR occurring at 7.31 MHz to 9.83 MHz (40’ end fed random wire)
