There’s no single path to a career in clean energy—and that was the key takeaway from our guest speakers at Watertown High School’s final in-house field trip of the year. Students connected with professionals working across clean energy, housing, planning, and technology to learn how careers can evolve through different experiences, interests, and opportunities. Speakers shared honest advice about life after high school, emphasizing that success can come through college, the trades, public service, or paths that look completely different than expected. The day also featured learning about Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), connecting students to real-world challenges and opportunities shaping Massachusetts communities and housing goals. This included an activity where students navigated a full-scale floor plan of an ADU in the gym and learned about sustainable and energy-conservation measures employed in today’s housing projects. This project was led by educators Jason Welch, Daniel Birch, and Dean Poillucci along with the High Performance Building Innovators Club students. A huge thank you to Massachusetts Clean Energy Center for sponsoring this work, and our incredible guest speakers for helping students see the many possibilities ahead of them: Sarah Cunningham, Autodesk | Katie Segal, Environmental League of Massachusetts (ELM) | Claire Morehouse, Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities | Rebecca George, Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities | Meredith Boericke, MHP (Massachusetts Housing Partnership) | Beverly Craig, Massachusetts Clean Energy Center

This week, we celebrate the teachers who empower students to identify problems that matter—and take the first steps toward solving them. Through invention education, you’re not just teaching skills—you’re shaping innovators, leaders, and future problem-solvers. We appreciate all that you do. #TeacherAppreciationWeek

Great ideas don't start with answers—they start with teachers who are willing to explore alongside their students. To the educators bringing invention education to life: thank you for fostering creativity, resilience, and bold thinking every day. Your impact goes far beyond the classroom. #TeacherAppreciationWeek

Behind every young inventor is a teacher who encouraged a question, sparked an idea, or made space for creativity to grow. This #TeacherAppreciationWeek, we’re celebrating the educators who turn curiosity into invention and classrooms into launchpads for real-world problem solving. Thank you for inspiring the next generation of changemakers. 💡

What happens after a great idea? On World Intellectual Property Day, we’re highlighting the importance of protecting and sharing innovation. Intellectual property gives inventors the tools to bring their ideas to life—and into the world. Through invention education, students don’t just learn to solve problems—they learn how to protect and scale their solutions. #WorldIPDay
