Egyptian-Italian singer, songwriter, and rapper Lella Fadda (@lellafadda ) commands the stage with a hypnotizing performance of ‘TARAT TARAT TAT’, a standout from her newly released album ‘MAGNÜN’.

Italian-born, Egyptian rapper and singer @lellafadda ’s musical upbringing was anything but orderly.
At home, her mother played Latin pop — Shakira above all. Weekends with her Egyptian grandmother belonged to a different world entirely: black-and-white films, classic songs, and the kind of nostalgia that arrives long before you are old enough to understand it. Two soundtracks, separated by decades and geography, eventually met somewhere in the middle. “I don’t believe in genres,” she tells YUNG. “I believe in a good song and a bad song.”
Though she was born in Milan, Fadda has always been clear about where she belongs. “I’m Egyptian,” she says simply. “These are the streets I know without direction.” And when she performs abroad, the response arrives quickly — even before the lyrics do. “There can be someone standing in front of me who doesn’t know what I’m saying,” she says. “And they’re still dancing.”

One night during a performance of her viral single “TARAT TARAT TAT,” Egyptian singer and rapper @lellafadda glanced down from the stage and realised something unexpected.
The entire front row was men. And they weren’t listening politely. They were shouting along to every lyric, including the lines about relationships and male behaviour in her songs that, under other circumstances, might have implicated them.
“I burst out laughing into the mic,” she tells YUNG.
The moment captured something essential about Fadda’s work: its ability to smuggle uncomfortable truths into a room before anyone quite realises what they’re admitting to. In her hands, irony becomes less a defence than a delivery system — a way of saying the thing everyone recognises but few say out loud.

Four Names for Home - YUNG Anniversary Issue
Before the streams, the studio sessions, or the debut album, @lellafadda had already written the plan.
At twelve, the Egyptian artist scribbled a sentence in thick red crayon: I will be a singer like Adele. The note resurfaced years later while her family was clearing out her grandmother’s apartment in Cairo — a childhood declaration that reads less like wishful thinking and more like early proof.
Today, at 25, Fadda is emerging as one of the most distinctive voices in Egypt’s new generation of pop and rap artists. Her debut album MAGNÜN moves between airy pop melodies and conversational rap, carried by the rhythm, slang, and emotional candour of Cairo’s everyday speech.
“You can literally fake anything,” she tells YUNG. “But not the audio.”
Some artists spend years trying to sound convincing as themselves. Fadda, it seems, understood early that this was the whole task.
