(1/2) 18/10/25 - Sad Badger/Sunshine/Shutdown birthday
what a beautiful northern stomp, even catching some morning sunshine! all the crews absolutely smashed this one, and tunes were on pointttt. bit of a shame to hear about the mess made in wales, but proud of the northern scene for leaving no trace.
ALSO... my lens was literally falling apart in the mosh, and I didn't realise the problem until morning, so I apologise if you were expecting a nice in focus pic of you and your mates, but the technical difficulties were absolute shambles. Back again next time.
This Saturday Manchester came out in full force to oppose the racist and hateful rhetoric being pushed by members of the far right. The Antifa community far outnumbered the britain first protesters who are so determined to create the illusion of being the majority voice.
The event made me feel disheartened about the stark reality of the country, people spewing hate while holding their daughters hand, using immigrants and minorities as the scapegoat for the failures of recent governments and their own intolerance. Adults ensuring the next generation fall into the trap of the far right agenda, creating division among communities and suppressing all of our voices. Careful mate, that foreigner wants your cookie.
Despite this, the event also made me proud that the city that I live in maintains on the right side of history. I was inspired seeing communities band together to support the countless races and nationalities that helped build this country, and continue to help it thrive. The cheers of the Antifa protesters as the britain first mob turned to leave will not soon be forgotten by anyone in the crowd, as Manchester made sure its voice was heard.
The news coverage of the event was maybe lesser than it would’ve been, had the police not lost control of the protesters on numerous occasions. Several counts of excessive force, threats, and inability to control crowds led to the safety of protesters being risked, when exposed to and confronted by the overly aggressive far right. Officers spent the day attempting to kettle Antifa protesters and stop them from blocking the path of fascism marching through the city. Police were forced to draw back after the use of excessive force lead to civilian injuries, and the Antifa protesters were able to break the police kettle in order to intercept the advance of the far right.
Some britain first protesters were seen proudly representing emblems of the SS (slide 8), which is sickening and abhorrent, and the protesters who marched alongside them are complicit in sympathising with the nazi occupation. The world is becoming steadily scarier, and Saturday was a reality check of where we are up to now.
Vote. March. Be Antifa.
