A very cool and surreal moment for me this evening.
Some time ago I designed a special T-shirt for Gerard van Velde, trainer of @schaatsteamreggeborgh The design shows the great Olympic results of the team. A way to celebrate the incredible performances they delivered at the Olympic Games.
Seeing the design come to life on a shirt was already something I was proud of. I just made it for Gerard to show my appreciation for the sport and the insane performances of the athletes.
But then something unexpected happened…
During the ISU World Championship Sprint & Allround in Heerenveen, Gerard was wearing the shirt… and it was shown on Dutch national television. Suddenly a design that started behind my screen appeared on TV while the world’s best speed skaters were competing.
It’s such a cool feeling to spot something you created in a moment like that. From an idea, to a design, to a shirt, to national television.
Moments like this remind me why I love doing what I do. Creating designs that connect with sport, stories, and achievements.
Big respect to Team Reggeborgh for their amazing performances and thanks to Gerard for wearing the shirt. Very proud to have been part of this in a small way.
