Branches have you made your purchase through the poppy store? Each medal features a precision die-cast medallion with a bright gold-plated finish, detailed enamel design, and a blue, yellow and green ribbon symbolizing the Legion, renewal, and our next 100 years. Wearing the poppy is a powerful act of pride and remembrance, symbolizing respect for those who have served. It should be worn on the left side, over the heart, as a sacred symbol of Remembrance. The Legion's lapel poppy must be kept intact, without any alteration, but those who prefer may replace the original pin with a Legion-approved Poppy Center.

As Remembrance Day approaches, all of us at Moores Clothing want to extend our heartfelt thanks to you and your families for your service, sacrifice, and dedication to our country. We are truly grateful for all that you do. To show our appreciation, they're hosting a Military Appreciation Event from November 8 -11. During this time, members of the military community will receive 20% OFF all retail purchases. It’s their small way of saying thank you – and they'd be honoured to have you visit us in-store during this special event.

The Royal Canadian Legion is proud to introduce Mrs. Nancy Payne of Lansdowne, Ontario, as this year’s National Silver Cross Mother. On November 11, Nancy will place a wreath at the National War Memorial in Ottawa. “Nancy’s deep loss reflects the pain of many,” says Berkley Lawrence, Dominion President. “Her bravery in sharing her story shines a warm light on her son, who gave his life in the name of this country. We will always remember him.” Mrs. Payne’s son, Corporal Randy Joseph Payne, served with the Canadian Army, as part of 1 Garrison Military Police Company based in Wainwright, Alberta. He had begun his career initially assigned to the Royal Canadian Air Force Military Police. Randy was killed in action in Afghanistan on April 22, 2006, while serving as a member of the “Close Protection” team assigned to that mission. He died alongside three other soldiers, when a roadside bomb struck the military G-Wagon they were driving while returning to Kandahar Airfield from an operating base.
