IT'S 🪇🪇🪇🪇🪇 QUICK TIP THURSDAY!!! 🪇🪇🪇🪇🪇 This week's tip is: Close your eyes when you practice!! Have you ever noticed throughout my videos that I often close my eyes? Or have you seen anyone else close their eyes while performing? Well, there's a reason for that! When your eyes are open, your brain has to process everything you see which means it has to concentrate on multiple things and can lead to you getting distracted, among other things. Closing your eyes lets you shut that out and allows you to get in the zone to fully concentrate on your practice or performance. It's like meditation. I use this method alot with my students and get amazing results! That's it for this one! I hope this video was informative/helpful for some of you. If you've been watching some of my videos, you know I always talk about staying relaxed when playing. When you close your eyes, you don't need to think about anything else than your playing. This means you have time to think about relaxing and focus on your task. Try it out during your next practice session or gig and let me know if you feel a difference! I am a proud @loscabosdrumsticks Artist and am using the Rally LCM3 model in the Red Hickory! I highly recommend these for practice! Thank you all for the continuous support! All the Likes, Comments and Shares really make it worth it! If you have any suggestions on what Tips or Topics you'd like me to cover next, let me know in the comments!!! And remember: With great Power comes great........ RUDIMENTS!!! YOOOOOOO!!!!! 🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆 #lefoudrums #drum #drums #instadrums #instadrummer

IT'S 🪇🪇🪇🪇🪇 PARADIDDLE TUESDAY!!! 🪇🪇🪇🪇🪇 YoyoyoyoYOOOOO my fellow YOS!!! 🦆🦆🦆🦆 Today, I'm running through Exercise No.2 @ 170 BPM for 1 minute. Last time we were at 163 BPM, so it's a nice little jump from the previous checkpoint. This run went great! Ok, some variations in volume, especially with the left hand lead, BUT the switches were pretty clean and the run as a whole was actually very consistant. It felt awesome, anyways! The hard part is definetely when you go from paradiddles to singles and Switching your leading hand. You wanna stay relaxed, but at the same time want those singles to be on point, so it's easy to strain your arms. Exercises like this are a great workout for your playing and your brain! You really feel that noggin workin'! 🧠🧠🧠🧠 That's it for today's episode! I really enjoyed adding the lead hand switch in this exercise. Just singles and paradiddles made this one pretty similar to Exercise #4, so now it's way more fun and challenging. Try it out and see for yourself! Let me know what you think about my videos! I always appreciate any feedback, questions or suggestions! I am a proud @loscabosdrumsticks Artist and am using the Rally LCM3 model in the Red Hickory! Definetely check them out! Thank you all for the continuous support! I really appreciate all the Likes, Comments and Shares! You all make these videos worth it! 🪇🪇🪇 FRIDAY PRACTICE UPDATE!!! 🪇🪇🪇 YoyoyoYOOO!!! Here's a little update! 🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆 WE DID IT!!!!!!!!! SINGLE STROKE ROLL FOR 2 MINUTES @ 200 BPM!!!!! I've been working on it for a bit and it's finally getting there! It OBVIOUSLY wasn't perfect, but definetely felt awesome! I did 3 runs tonight, which NEVER happens, so I'm stoked about that. Tonight was a good session. I really feel my left hand has more control and is slowly but surely catching up to my right hand! I've also been working on sprints to work on actual speed, which I feel has been helping out with these 2 minute runs. I might start a Speed day. Who knows? My Paradiddle Exercises are also getting up there. Gonna start working on the ParaParadiddle at some point, too, to get some Paravariations in the loop! Anyways, this week was definetely a good one for practice sessions. I'm just a Duck who's trying to stay focused and push on through!! I'm also gonna be doing more actual posts, like my ULTRA LATE End Of Year post and more!!! Stay tuned for that!! Go check out @loscabosdrumsticks if you haven't already! I am a proud LCD Artist I'm using the Rally LCM3 model in the Red Hickory!! Thank you all for the support and following me throughout my journey! You guys are keeping me alive!!! IT'S 🪇🪇🪇🪇🪇 QUICK TIP THURSDAY!!! 🪇🪇🪇🪇🪇 This week's tip is: Play SLIGHTLY faster than the click!! Have you ever practiced/performed a rhythm, pattern, song (or whatever, really) for a long period of time and start on time, but after a while fall so ever slightly behind the tempo and have to push to get back on track? Well, that's normal and it happens to everyone. After a while, regardless of tension or pain, it can happen that you lack a bit of power and you lose a little speed for various reasons. It's like a car on cruise control. Sometimes it accelerates or slows down to maintain it's speed, due to wind or road conditions. It's the same thing for us. By slightly playing ahead of the click, you'll more likely stay in time, even if you hit a little speed bump, rather than fall behind and have to push back up to tempo. That's it for this one! I hope this video was informative/helpful for some of you. Remember to always try to stay as relaxed and focused as possible when playing for long periods of time. Any variation in movement or even just thinking of something else for a second can affect your playing in a huge way. Don't fall behind and STAY AHEAD!! I am a proud @loscabosdrumsticks Artist and am using the Rally LCM3 model in the Red Hickory! An excellent stick for practicing! Thank you all for the continuous support! I never expect much from these videos, but seeing all the Likes, Comments and Shares really makes it worth it! IT'S 🪇🪇🪇🪇🪇 PARADIDDLE TUESDAY!!! 🪇🪇🪇🪇🪇 YoyoyoyoYOOOOO my fellow YOS!!! 🦆🦆🦆🦆 Today, I'm running through Exercise No.1 @ 193 BPM for 1 minute. A little faster than last time, at 190 BPM. This run actually went pretty good! A few hiccups here and there, but it was globally legimite! Trying to get those doubles as smooth as possible and stay relaxed. Using the towel really makes you work that much more by cutting some of the rebound off, so you really gotta dial them in! That's it for today's episode! OKAY, the metronome is really loud compared to the rest of the audio. Running it on the same phone I'm filming with. ☠️☠️☠️☠️ I'll try to get a separate source to solve that issue. Stay tuned!! Let me know what you think about my videos! I always appreciate any feedback, questions or suggestions! I am a proud @loscabosdrumsticks Artist and am using the Rally LCM3 model in the Red Hickory! IT'S 🪇🪇🪇🪇🪇 QUICK TIP THURSDAY!!! 🪇🪇🪇🪇🪇 This week's tip is: Let your mind and body process the information!! Have you ever practiced something like a song, setlist, pattern, section... for an extended period of time (let's say an hour) and still couldn't get it down after the session? It happens and it's normal. After a while, your brain and body get tired of working on / repeating the same thing over and over again. You need to take a break and allow yourself to process all the information you're taking in. After a while, go back and try again! Odds are you'll see improvement, compared to your previous try! "We wake up, eat, get tired, go to sleep, repeat". We need our sleep to reset our battery and get through the day. Same thing goes for practice.... SORTA... Your mind/ body are working, eat the information you feed it, and eventually need some rest to reset. Ok, it sounds funny, but I'm sure you get what I'm saying! That's it for this one! I hope this video was informative/helpful for some of you. Remember to take breaks from the same exercise and allow yourself to actually understand what you're doing and process all the information. Sometimes, taking some time off actually saves you some time! Try it out, next time you're learning something challenging. It'll definetely help! I am a proud @loscabosdrumsticks Artist and am using the Rally LCM3 model in the Red Hickory! Definetely check them out! Thank you all for the continuous support! I never expect much from these videos, but seeing all the Likes, Comments and Shares really makes it worth it! IT'S 🪇🪇🪇🪇🪇 PARADIDDLE TUESDAY!!! 🪇🪇🪇🪇🪇 YoyoyoyoYOOOOO my fellow YOS!!! 🦆🦆🦆🦆 Today's episode is nothing too fancy. I'm simply running through a minute of Paradiddles @ 150 BPM to get back in the groove of things. I haven't practiced all weekend and tonight, I was feeling a bit stiff and straight up tired. It happens, but you gotta push on through! This run felt pretty good. 150 BPM is an interesting speed for Paradiddles, because it's in the "Grey Area" between doing full strokes and using rebound. A fun little challenge to get back into it! That's it for today's episode! I know, it's nothing spectacular... BUT, take this as a reminder that we aren't absolute and some days/weeks are harder than others. IT HAPPENS. Even the Masters can feel weak, at times. You just gotta push, YOOOO!! Let me know what you think about my videos! I always appreciate any feedback, questions or suggestions! I am a proud @loscabosdrumsticks Artist and am using the Rally LCM3 model in the Red Hickory! Definetely check them out! Thank you all for the continuous support! I never expect much from these videos, but seeing all the Likes, Comments and Shares really makes it worth it! IT'S 🪇🪇🪇🪇🪇 QUICK TIP THURSDAY!!! 🪇🪇🪇🪇🪇 This week's tip is: LOOK AT YOURSELF PLAY!!!! 🥁👀🥁👀 What I mean by that is to FILM YOURSELF when you're playing. Whether you did a sick fill and forgot it afterwards, executed a new technique/movement without even knowing it, felt pain after your session, felt something was off during practice, can't figure out why one hand/foot isn't as smooth as the opposite one, filming yourself is a major KEY to figuring out what's going on! Whether it be practice or a gig, you can always discover new things by viewing the footage. Another great way to help is to practice in front of a mirror! That way, you can see what's going on in real time and correct what needs correcting, or acknowledge what needs to be acknowledged! Sometimes we do things for years without even knowing it, good or bad, but never find out about it because we don't pay attention to it when we play. Top players watch their performances to perfect their technique or understand what went wrong/good during their set. Even sports teams do this to make new strategies and learn about the other team's tactics! That's it for this one! I hope this video was informative/helpful for some of you. Try filming yourself during your next session and take a look at what's going on! You may make some pleasant discoveries about yourself and your technique, which'll help you push further and also prevent eventual injuries. Think about it, next time you practice or play live! 🦆🦆🦆🦆 ***This one may feel rushed... trying to fit it all in the 3 min limit wasn't easy, so bare with me!*** Today's episode is about understanding the mechanics of the Paradiddle, in order to play fast and stay relaxed. Doing full strokes is good for learning the pattern and getting your hands used to it, but when you go faster, your arms will get tired very quickly and eventually build up tension. Just like a car or a bike, when you reach a certain speed, you gotta changed gears in order to stay fluid or go faster. In this case, we need to go from full strokes to using the rebound. Practice "Dropping the stick" to help you develop the feel of it. It might sound weird, but it definetely helped me get my Paradiddles to where they are, now! 🥁🥁🥁🥁 That's it for today's episode! Try this technique out and let me know if it helped you in any way!!! The key is always to stay relaxed to get some nice sounding Paradiddles! It's useless to go blazing fast if you can't control what you're doing. Remember: With great Power comes great...... RUDIMENTS!!!! Let me know what you think about my videos! I always appreciate any feedback, questions or suggestions! Sticks: I am using the @loscabosdrumsticks Rally LCM3 model in the Red Hickory! I absolutely LOVE THEM!! IT'S 🪇🪇🪇🪇🪇 QUICK TIP THURSDAY!!! 🪇🪇🪇🪇🪇 This week's video is related to the last Quick Tip I posted, where I talked about using the Switch technique to reduce tension in your arms and hands. This week's tip is: FOLLOW THE MOTION OF THE OCEAN!! What I mean by that is to make small WAVES with your wrists while playing long rolls, blastbeats, skank beats, or any beat you need to play, really. Keeping your hands in the same position can cause your arms to start tensing up fast, so these little wave motions can really come in handy to stay relaxed. Changing the wave groupings is also key, because doing the same grouping leads to performing the same movement repeatedly, which eventually leads to building up tension. So combine the different groupings to fully feel the Wave Efficiency. Using the Switch Technique on top of that will help you maximize the benefits and stay relaxed! That's it for this one! I hope this video was informative/helpful for some of you. Try doing these little waves and let me know if you feel the difference! Staying relaxed is essential for us to keep on playing and reduce the risk of injuries. Think about it, next time you practice or play live! I am a proud @loscabosdrumsticks Artist and am using the Rally LCM3 model in the Red Hickory! I strongly recommend you try them out! Thank you all for the continuous support! 🪇🪇🪇 FRIDAY PRACTICE UPDATE!!! 🪇🪇🪇 YoyoyoYOOO!!! Here's a little update! Yes, it's another 2 minute run @ 195 BPM. I KNOW!! But this time around, I am way more relaxed and in control! I would normally start tensing up when getting around the 1min30sec mark and use brute force. There's a few hiccups here and there, but I'm really satisfied with this one. PLUS, I've got the towel on the pad to cut some of the rebound. I dunno, but after the 2 minutes, I felt great! I've also been working on the switch technique, to make these long rolls easier and smoother. I really see the benefits of this approach! You should definetely look into it! My Paradiddle Exercises are, them too, coming along great! I'm just trying to stay focused and push on through!! Go check out @loscabosdrumsticks if you haven't already! I'm using the Rally LCM3 model in the Red Hickory and LOVE them!!!! Thank you all for the support! You guys are keeping me alive!!! And remember: With great Power comes great....
