Markus Gottschlich is an Austrian-American arts nonprofit leader, Steinway Artist, and educator with a track record of revitalizing arts organizations and building community-centered cultural initiatives. As Executive Director of the Warehouse Arts District Association in St. Petersburg, Florida, he transformed the organization’s finances, operations, and public profile. Under his leadership, WADA was recognized as the #3 Arts District in the U.S. by USA Today (2025) and named Tampa Bay’s Arts Advocacy Organization of the Year (2024), earning over a billion organic media impressions and developing powerful partnerships across sectors.
Gottschlich brings a unique combination of international business acumen and artistic excellence to his leadership. A former Executive Director of the New Mexico Jazz Workshop and Artistic Director of the Miami Beach Jazz Festival, he has created sustainable programming, spearheaded major fundraising campaigns, and led strategic planning efforts that strengthened organizational capacity and broadened access to the arts. At the Vienna Music Institute, he launched a career center, developed new curriculum, and guided institutional redesign while teaching music business and performance.
As a concert pianist and composer, Markus has performed worldwide, from the Vienna Jazz Festival to stages across Asia and the Americas, sharing bills with Grammy-winning artists. His projects reflect a lifelong commitment to cultural exchange and education, and his work has been featured by media outlets such as NBC, Fox, and Telemundo. He is the founder of Jazz Academy Miami and has conducted clinics across the U.S., Europe, and Asia.
