Yeifry Alcantara works in our building and has helped Erin and I many times over the last two years fix things in our place. He helped us move our entire Spaceman set into storage. On July 29 he attended a required court hearing for his asylum application to the United States. The judge granted him nine more months to work on his case. He never returned after this hearing and we have since learned that he was taken by ICE and is being detained in a jail in NJ. Yiefrey is a great young man who works hard and is incredibly sweet. There is a gofundme to help pay for his legal fees if you feel like supporting. Link in bio. It’s frightening that we have an extra-judicial force detaining whomever they want in this country. They don’t need justification nor legal authority. I’m worried we are watching the beginning of a Gestapo type force that exists above the law.
Huge shoutout to @evakottakis for her incredible juggling act backstage for the Trojans. She is so on it and handling so many different costume changes, prop relays, and scenery set ups. It’s amazing to watch. I filled in for a role last night and Eva helped me get through it all without a hitch. Thank you!
