honestly this is a great way to save gel if you are using LEDs that cannot change CCT or even G/M shift.
After a brief talk with @leefilters it was very interesting to discover that LEDs actually consume gels faster than other fixtures.

First Light of the Summer Arc 🔭🌳✨
Cookworthy Knapp beneath the first summer arc of the season. This is the first of two images I captured here. For this shot, I was facing the summer Milky Way arc as it rose on the east facing side of the hill, curving around the trees. The second image, still to come, will show the winter arc from the west facing side. I only had a small window of time around 4-5am, but for a short while, everything lined up.
Cookworthy Knapp, often known as the “Nearly Home Trees”, is a familiar landmark near Lifton on the Devon and Cornwall border. The beech trees are thought to have been planted in the early 1900s, originally as part of the Lifton Park estate, and have since become a much-loved sight for travellers heading in and out of Cornwall.
A huge thank you to Jo Maynard and her family, who own the land, for kindly giving me access and allowing me to capture these images.

Last Arc of Winter 🔭✨🏰
One of the last chances to catch the winter Milky Way above St Michael’s Church in Brentor. Orion was sitting low, ready to disappear for the season, and Jupiter glowing in the top left was the perfect addition. A special night on one of the most striking hilltop churches in Devon.

Lee Filters makes a bunch of different diffusion types that come in these rolls.
You can cut pieces of diffusion from these rolls to either put on lights or create your own 4x4 frames.
One of the most common diffusion types used on set is “White Diffusion”
It comes in different strengths from Full to an 1/8.
You will commonly see these being referred to by their Lee code such as 216, 250, 251 and 252

Many cities are actively replacing sodium-vapor street lights with LEDs, which means this look is slowly disappearing in real life. That’s one reason it still shows up so often in films, it instantly signals “night city” in a way audiences recognize.
Urban sodium gel is useful when you want a believable “street at night” look without relying on practical lamps on location.
