There are several ways to kneel.
One is poised and ready, in a position of patience and intention.
Another is in surrender and humility…broken and formless.
The interesting thing about the two is that more often than not, more can come from the latter. It’s easy to think you’re putting in the work by holding a perfect position, but the reality is that getting on ground level allows for the cracks in the foundation to mend, and neglected areas to grow.
I wish that I could say I was starting the new year as collected as the first, but unlike previous years, reflection has meant coming to terms with pain. Not to mention the challenge of navigating that with grace.
But the greatness of surrender is not relying on your own strength and not identifying with your failure; it’s submitting to Someone greater than yourself, and having every need met from there.
