Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia. Centre for Diverse Learners is committed to providing welcoming safe spaces for learners with a host of differences, not just ones that affect learning.   We believe in equality, and equality of opportunity for individuals to chase their dreams. Our small group programs cater to all students, and our dop-in programs such as Homework Health and Friendship Club provide safe spaces for learners to be themselves.   Support our mission by visiting diverselearners.ca/donate today.   #Equality#IDAHOBIT2026#Equity#Neurodiversity

🏠❤️International Day of Families was created to raise awareness about the social, economic, and demographic issues that still persist for families worldwide. It is also a day  where we remember how important families and family-focused community organizations are to the functioning of society at large.   🫂CDL supports neurodiverse learners but we also support their families and caregivers- through workshops, free programs, and other initiatives.   📊85% of our surveyed families claim that they would not have adequate support for their learners were it not for CDL.   🙏But we cannot do it alone. Your help and support is what makes this all possible. Consider becoming a donor today by visiting diverselearners.ca/donate #Education#Neurodiversity#Family#InternationalDayOfFamiliee

May is Vision Health Month 👁️ Hear from our own @emileeschevers , SEL educator and Disability Advocate as she gives us some great tips on how to help prevent vision loss. Tip 1. Schedule regular comprehensive eye exams. Tip 2. Wear the correct eyewear to protect your sight. Tip 3. Try to adopt healthy lifestyle habits. Here at CDL we embrace disabilities and differences in both our students and our educators and are working towards a more equal future for all. #neurodiversity#disability#visionhealth#equality#health

Caregiver Tip of The Week: Reinforce the behaviour you want to see by praising it. Be specific with your praise. Even small moments of positive encouragement can make a world of difference to a child. #neurodiversity#parenting#caregivers#positivity#behavior

This week is Mental Health Week and we are using this as an opportunity to share some of the tools that we use here at Centre for Diverse Learners to help our students self-regulate when they are feeling out of sorts.   We believe it’s extremely important to create an environment where students feel that they can take a moment to themselves and re-calibrate before continuing to participate in one of our small group programs.   These tools help ensure that all learners feel welcome in our classes and that they have the opportunity to self-regulate which eventually helps facilitate better learning outcomes.   We’d love to hear what tools you feel work best for you when it comes to learners’ self-regulation in the comments below.   Thank you! #MentalHealth#neurodiversity#ADHD#Autism#EmotionalRegulation
