First time in China 🤯 Celebrated Spring Festival and threw our second SAL Lunar New Year party there, and with so many friends was something outside what I could even imagine.
Chinese new year is typically reserved for family, to take a break from work and set a precedent for what the year will be like. You’re encouraged to enjoy life, rid yourself of capitalist pressures and share in some indulgence with your loved ones. To spend Spring Festival with the TAG family meant going in head first and there was no other way I’d rather have it❣️
Huge love to
@hakkaellen from
@tagchengduchina for inviting
@lawrenceleea7a , myself and
@mother.loading to bring SAL, which stands for Sonic Abundance Longevity, our project which celebrates ESEA talent and tradition through music and culture.
In times thick with propaganda, xenophobia, and fear, there’s nothing more mind-altering than immersing yourself into a culture through its own people. The West has spent decades distorting China into something unrecognizable—but being here, absorbing it firsthand - I love China. More of us need to unlearn what we were taught, seek wisdom in experience, and trust our own intuition. And in this economy, breaking down borders—literal and figurative—is the only kind of participation that matters.
@hakkaellen , you are a force. What you’ve built isn’t just a club, it’s a living, breathing organism. And as much as these words have been misused and misunderstood by brands and artists, you have nurtured a community of club kids and your cultural impact is historical.
Thank you to everyone who made it what it was, to the locals and international babes who showed up, to our incredible DJs and friends
@nene.habiba @lawrenceleea7a @ttbrittttbritt @0snow_ @seventymaos @s0n1care @julientell to Lawrence for tearing it this year, and most of all, to Ellen. It’s a privilege to know you and witness how far your care extends. Hats off to you, absolute legend!
