Throwback to my first official outing with Tokamak Energy to Wheatley Park School. One of the best careers days I've ever been to with almost 20 people speaking to years 7, 8, and 9 about their jobs and education. @tokamakenergy @wheatleyparkoxford #fusionenergy #womeninstem

I have stolen* the big ST40 tokamak model from the big meeting room, to tell you that I'll be representing Tokamak Energy on a fusion panel at Oxford Ideas Festival tomorrow (Mon 20th Oct). We'll be at the Cape of Good Hope pub at 7pm and tickets are pay-what-you-can. There are some seriously big names in fusion attending, including Proxima Fusion from Germany and Kyoto Fusioneering from Japan (our event hosts)! Please enjoy my formal photoshoot with ST40 (which I will carefully return to the big meeting room after showing it off at Monday's event) *taken with permission, please don't fire me @oxford_if @thecapeoxford @tokamakenergy @proximafusion @kyotofusioneer #fusionenergy #oxfordif /event/fusion-energy-almost-there/

Final big announcement (for now)... today I started a new job at @tokamakenergy I'll be assisting with the diagnostic upgrade of the ST40 tokamak - this upgrade consists of almost 50 individual projects which I'll need to have oversight of! Absolutely cannot wait to get going (and finish my mandatory training) #fusionenergy

Big announcement 2/3 - after 7 years it's time for me to say goodbye to the UK Atomic Energy Authority. In my final days at UKAEA, I said goodbye to my team (with a classic lunch curry), goodbye to the outreach and comms teams (who first encouraged me to talk about fusion), and goodbye to my beloved Women's Network (who bought me cake... a lot of cake). Before I handed in my notice, I got to take my family on a tour of the JET tokamak. It was the last JET tour I gave and a really special day for me 🩷 Thank you to my family, friends, and colleagues for all your support over the years - one final exciting announcement ahead 🍩☀️ @ukaeaofficial

I hoooome! 🫖☕️ Big news coming up over the next few weeks, but for now, I'm busy unpacking and completing as many English activities as possible: Tea & scones, (veggie) fish & chips, Sunday roast, full English, and several 'big walks' Thanks again to my Oak Ridge colleagues, you guys really made my secondment ❤️ miss you!

Final stop of the North America trip - Toronto! 🍁 Some of the best food I've ever had, including a deconstructed piña colada 🍍 This trip has been such an amazing opportunity to take part in fusion research in another country. I can't wait to see what the future holds!!

Happy belated International Women in Engineering Day, from me and my weirdly engineering-themed trip to San Francisco Loved: the hills, the street cars, and the sea lions Hated: the creepy driverless cars that haunt the streets I'm almost at the end of my trip, it's been such an amazing opportunity to work somewhere i could never afford to visit on my own Last stop, downtown Toronto!!

From desert to forest, Yosemite Valley was the absolute highlight of my trip to America 🌲 Although driving an hour into the valley through the snow was terrible and may have changed me forever. The valley is absolutely stunning. Got to see bear prints in the snow (still no bears though??) and by the end of our walk the next day, the snow had almost completely cleared. 10/10 magical experience Next, TO THE COAST!

Next stop - one single day in Las Vegas! City in a desert?? Perfect! Vegas is a totally surreal experience, just a maze of casinos and places to spend money. Personal favourites included the indoor mini Venice (smelled and sounded like a swimming pool), the Twilight Zone mini golf (i just love mini golf), and the monorail which I insisted we use to travel one single stop (had a blast). Honestly, Vegas needs more children's arcades, I'd spend hundreds on Crossy Road and the Jurassic Park arcade game! Next we're driving from desert to snowy forests 🌲🌲

First stop on the road trip is the Grand Canyon! This park completely took my breath away. In person, the canyon is so big that it looks fake. We spent a long time here, watching the wildlife and the helicopters so far away they were smaller than bugs 🐛 Next stop is Williams, Arizona!
