We’re only three weeks away from Deep Roots, and as we begin our final push, we’ve been looking back at old photos from different events, different LEAFs, and different seasons. And while the appeal of Deep Roots seems fairly straight forward — 8+ hours of live music and activities for only $50, a family-friendly day filled with incredible energy and people — there’s also that little hint of LEAF magic that the world is in desperate need of. ✨ A brief moment under the sun with your eyes closed as a neighbor strums a guitar. 🥁 The sway of your hips as the djembe roars and you start to feel a little more free. 🍻 The clink of a glass with a stranger who 🗣LOVES THIS BAND as much as you do, and you can’t believe you’re only just now meeting for the first. Petah Iah & The Mind Renewers is coming to Deep Roots! They play original roots reggae tunes blended with Latin sounds from South and Central America. The band is made up of part time musicians from diverse cultural backgrounds who share a common mission: renewing minds, uplifting spirits, and shaking souls through their music and message. Founded in 2022, the collective consists of Mario “Petah” Moraga on lead vocals, and keys; Adin Argueta on guitar and background vocals; Ezequiel Aloise on drums; Raul “Beto” Quintanilla on bass and background vocals; plus their most recent addition; Arianna Ruiz on flute and sax. Their original music includes Petah’s debut solo album, De Vuelta Al Barro (released in 2022), three singles released between 2020 and 2022, and their latest group project, the live EP Live From The Mountains, released in November 2024.
