🎨This class is led by local artist Kaelee Thompson, who will guide you through basic drawing materials and techniques with the assistance of botanical inspiration! ✍️ Learn and practice skills such as composition, contour drawing, use of light and shadow, and shading techniques. 🌿In this class, we will work with plants as drawing reference to create sketches and illustrations. 🌿Fern Spores @fern_spores is a femme-folk-rock band hailing from Olympia, WA. Drawing inspiration from musical giants like Janis Joplin, Alabama Shakes, Susan Tedeschi, and The Runaways, Fern Spores infuse their music with a modern edge while paying homage to the raw energy of their predecessors. 🎶Gracefully flowing between vintage psych folk, garage rock, clever covers, and soulful Americana ballads they curate a truly original sound. Angsty but uplifting, whimsical yet fierce, and as rock as it is roll. They serve up anthems of empowerment with a sprinkle of sapphic longing and a side of revolt. 🌿Fern Spores is an all woman project fronted by singer-songwriters Alyssa Nunke and Jade Kovats. Their full band arrangement includes Abbey Ryle (violin) and Katie Welch (drums). They prioritize working with woman owned venues, other female artists, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Empowerment, sisterhood, and resilience are at the core of their band ethos. 🎶Fern Spores is returning to Missoula for an intimate show at Leaf + Quiet on the Northside with special guest Ro Myra, @himynameisro a Missoula-based Americana singer-songwriter and musician known for her self-produced debut album, Nowhere, Nebraska (2021). 🌿She is a local sound artist who also teaches guitar, piano, voice, and songwriting to all ages in Missoula.
