I’m really proud of this cast and everything they’ve worked towards. We’ve had several people tell us it’s the best community theatre show they’ve seen. Don’t miss your chance to be a part of it. ✨
And just like that, we’re entering into tech week 👀
🌿
Don’t wait, get your tickets now. The link is in my bio or go to @blackrosetheatre for more information.
Tuck Everlasting Auditions are coming up at @blackrosetheatre and I’m directing!
Please prepare a 60-90 second cut of a song that is from a musical. You may perform your song with or without a music track. A speaker will be provided if you would like to sing with a track. Optionally, you may also prepare a 30-60 second monologue.
Want to fill out the audition form before you arrive? Follow the link in my bio!
See you at auditions!!
Words can’t express how much I will miss this show. Last year, I never would’ve imagined being able to do it. And although I never planned on being in the production with you guys while directing, I enjoyed being able to be around you guys even more. 💕
See you in Solla Sollew ✨
Oh yeah. I did that thing called graduating a bit ago.
No one really talks about how you feel after college and it doesn’t always feel good.

I’m thankful to still get to be around a good majority of my friends since I stayed in town, but some of them are in other parts of the country now and others are planning on leaving very soon. Graduating isn’t only a gain of independence and official adulthood, it’s also full of grief and messy change. You don’t get to see your friends in passing every day. You may not get a job in your field of study. You may feel like you aren’t really an artist. But life goes on and you have to keep intentionally seeking joy wherever it may take you.
I feel like this semester is just a constant cycle of cool things I get to do (even if they’re horrendously stressful).
Next up, my senior art show that opens this Saturday from 2pm-4pm.
(If you can’t come to the opening, it’ll be in the gallery all month so stop by!)
About a semester ago I had a crazy little idea that I wasn’t sure I could feasibly pull off. The year prior I had completed a small stage adaptation of the short story The Last Leaf by O. Henry as a school assignment. I was fond of my little script but I had no idea if it would ever be performed or if anyone would ever see it.
I’ve been at Belhaven for almost five years and had always really wanted to do something for our annual collaborative arts concert but never had an idea to pursue. Then it struck me. This script needed dance and music to work- the perfect opportunity was right here, except for one caveat… it needed time and many people to give their time to it. If you’ve ever gone to college for the arts, you know that time is a dead resource for many of us.
But somehow it worked…
One day I was watching Zach Mayberry compose more beautiful music that I had ever imagined and Grace Matson creating exceptional choreography for a piece I thought would never come off the page. Actors and dancers and musicians working together on something that became more than just a school assignment. And for that, I am so thankful. Without you guys, I might never have been able to direct this story. Thank you all for committing your hearts and time into this piece. It’s been an honor to work on it with all of you.
And now it’s almost time to share it with an audience. ✨ I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
Saturday, January 28th at 7pm at the Center for the Arts (Chapel)
Oh, to be able to paint light…
That would be a glorious thing.

Wow, it’s almost time to open my last college show (as an actor). That’s pretty crazy isn’t it?
