Just wanted to share this little moment from The Texas Beat BBQ at @blackcatrecordsncomics .
During @leaf.beach ’s beat set, I hear the guy digging in the crate across from me freestyling along as he’s flipping through some records.
I’m hearing him thinking man, this guy is good! Well turns out it was hip hop scholar/historian @back_2_the_lab who runs the Back 2 the Lab YouTube channel out of Houston.
He was visiting Dallas that weekend and just happened to pass by Black Cat and decided to check out the shop not knowing there was an event happening at that very moment.
Freestyling is an improvisational art form as is djing, breaking, beatmaking, and of course jazz music where you rely on your experience and intuition to show you the next step in that very moment.
That’s why we call it flow~
