It's common, and probably prudent, for artists to observe strict neutrality towards their own work (I mean what do we know!) but I'm just gonna say it, I like this one. It's dry as a bone, so thin it's almost see through, but it's still there, clinging to materiality by it's fingertips. I'm suspicious of too much juice in art so all of that makes me happy.

I've been pretty poorly for the last year or so and I've found it confusing. Disappointingly, it's bought no great clarity or unity of purpose to my life (isn't that what illness is supposed to do?). It's not even bought any special urgency, because that requires energy.
But I have carried on drawing in a vaguely diaristic manner that, in some generalised sense, reflects something of what I'm feeling, thinking or, more likely, like doing.
And that is cause for optimism! cos it makes me feel better, and if art was only about others it would be properly dull.

There's something about creepy domestic spaces that I like. I'm sure it's got something to do with nostalgia for the unknowable, when the world was unimaginably large and filled with unimaginable things and life was lived locally.
It was exciting.
