Mallorca 70.3 š“
This one means a lot personally.
Iāve always loved the idea of Ironman. What theyāve built, the atmosphere, the challenge, the people. But for a long time I never thought it was something Iād ever be able to do.
After leaving the Army and being medically discharged I was told Iād never run again with the pain move on from it. Truthfully, cycling became my thing because I couldnāt run anymore. It gave me purpose again when I needed it most.
Then last year I stood watching Tom race Ironman Leeds and something just clicked in my head. I remember thinking stop worrying about performance, times, results and just go and do one. Just try it and enjoy the experience for what it is.
Living with axial spondyloarthritis is difficult to explain unless you deal with it yourself. Every day is different. Some days you feel good, some days just getting moving hurts. Running will probably always involve pain for me now in some way, but over the years the biggest battle became my mindset around it all.
I had to learn that training has to work for me. Life has to work for me. Stress management, recovery, routine, mindset. Everything matters.
But here we are. Mallorca 70.3 completed.
Donāt ever let anyone tell you what you can or canāt do.
The race itself was good, although personally I wanted more. I didnāt have the legs I hoped for and honestly I didnāt feel great all day, but I didnāt want to be Mr Excuse either. Iām proud of the result I produced feeling the way I did.
Most importantly this was my first ever triathlon and my biggest goal was simple. Enjoy it.
Iām not chasing sport with pressure anymore like I once did. Iām not attaching my self worth to results. Iām here because I genuinely love the process and Iām proud of the journey Iām on.
Now the focus turns to Ironman Leeds and Iām excited for whatās ahead.
One thing is for sure though⦠youāll be seeing a lot more triathlon from us at Leadout š

In a world where coaching is becoming more saturated than ever, the good coaches will always stand out.
The ones who genuinely care.
The ones who graft behind the scenes.
The ones who put athletes before themselves.
Your journey towards your goals shouldnāt come at the sacrifice of your health, balance, or enjoyment of the sport.
And coaching shouldnāt be about ego, followers, or appearances.
Find a coach that believes in you.
Find a process you trust.
And go all in.
And to the coaches out there doing it properly every single day ā keep grafting š«¶š¼

Coach Sean š š
Itās been a while since Iāve felt sensations like this.
The last few years havenāt been straightforward. leaving the military, building a business from the ground up, and balancing everything that comes with it. Naturally, my own performance took a step back. That was something I had to come to terms with.
Moving away from full-time training into a demanding career changes things. But it also teaches you a lot.
This year, the goal was simpleāstep into triathlon and gravel, and enjoy the process again.
This weekend was Dirty Reiver ā 130km, 2400m climbing.
1st place. 4:26. 283w NP. 3.8 w/kg.
That means a lot.
Training hasnāt been perfect. It hasnāt been high volume. But itās been consistentāand realistic, and equally messy. I average around 7ā8 hours a week on the bike.
Thatās the message.
As a coach, a father, and a business ownerātime is the limiter. Social media shows you 20-hour weeks, but thatās not reality for most. And thatās fine.
We need to be honest about who we are and where weāre at.
For most, this is a passion. Not our livelihood.
So yesāpush yourself. Be driven. Chase progression.
But build your life alongside it.
Because with the right approach, you can still perform.
Iām rarely satisfied. I always want more.
But one thing Iāve learntā
Comparing yourself to others, especially on platforms like Strava, gets you nowhere. Train with intent, Get a kick up the ass from a friend or a coach!
Focus on your process.
Your time.
Your progression.
Now we prepare for whatās next.
Ironman 70.3 Mallorca next week.
This one will mean a lot.

Sam came to Leadout Performance in October 2025 through a referral, with a clear but modest objective ā to complete the Mallorca 312 cycling event.
From day one, our approach was never simply about getting to the start line. With the time available, we focused on building sustainable structure, consistent habits, and a performance-led framework that would not only support this event, but underpin everything that follows.
While the initial goal was ājust to complete it,ā that isnāt how we operate. At Leadout, preparation is deliberate. Every decision is considered, every target calculated.
Today, Sam delivered.
312km. 4,633 metres of climbing.
Finished in 10 hours 35 minutes.
A performance built over months of consistent work ā long winter miles, disciplined training, and a commitment to the process week after week.
Results like this are earned.
Sam ā this is a reflection of the work youāve put in. Thoroughly deserved.
