Taking it to the wire with this post, so very sorry, but it’s been crazier than Santa’s workshop & non-stop here at NLSG for the past 3 weeks! I just wanted to say a huge heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you who has supported and joined me in 2025 - my first year of making the move to take North Lakes Stained Glass full-time…. Be that the venues & organisations who have showcased & championed by work (@ivymakersguild , @the_makers_mill , @rheged_centre , @thehappyherdwick , @sixandmoon , @blackwellartsandcrafts , @edenvalleyartisticnetwork ), or the wonderful students who I’ve had the privilege of teaching, or all the people and new customers I’ve met at events, and not forgetting those amazing clients who have entrusted me with their extra-special commission pieces…… also those wonderful folk who have believed in me and pushed me forwards…….NLSG honestly wouldn’t be where it is today without you all, and I’m so grateful. The past 12 months have been a whirlwind, far exceeding anything I could have imagined, & 2026 is already shaping up to be super exciting! Multiple new teaching venues across the region, fabulous commission projects locked in, new collaborations with @tulliecarlisle & @keswickmuseum and then the International Festival of Glass is also back!!! Today marks exactly 6 months of being a full-time, professional glass artist!!!! I have been reliably informed by my dear friend Charlotte from @leadlightstudio that I am now scarred with the full-time artists curse, where even on holiday, you never switch off 🤣 in all fairness to me though, there is inspiration everywhere in the amazing NE countryside & coast…. However, today is ‘boy’s activity choice day’ and we are fishing…. 😒🫣 on a very characterless reservoir so they don’t have to pay extortionate rod licence fees….. for those of you who know me, I don’t ’do’ fish…. To look at, to eat, to have contact with…. They freak me out and I feel they should very firmly remain underwater where I can’t see them to enjoy their existence without interacting with me 😝 ironic considering I swim the lakes, but I persuade myself they aren’t there!!! But today I thought I’d pull up my big girl pants and try to support my lad’s new obsession…. I’ve sat in the windy shelter with a whining dog who can’t be letoff the head for a couple of hours, very bored, so think I’ve paid my dues… so now onto something fun….. I’ve left my sketch book at home but instead, I’m learning something new, thanks to this fab kit from @hawthornhandmade ! Our first ever feature-length film! Still laughing and quite emotional about the power of moments like this and the impact of being in a group has.
