A pub is built on layers. Light, sound, people… and the things you don’t fully take in at first. Steve Leadbeater’s work is one of them, considered, intentional, and woven through the space in a way that reveals itself over time.

I’m running two special art workshops in the Grampians this September. FROM OBSERVATION TO ESSENCE 2 day workshop Saturday 12 — Sunday 13 September This workshop focuses on moving from looking to interpreting. Through journaling and sketching from nature, we’ll gather visual and sensory material that becomes the starting point for studio work. You’ll explore how line, shape, colour and texture can be layered and abstracted to distil what truly matters, rather than what is merely seen. The aim is to translate the essence of a subject into work that feels alive, intuitive and true, while stepping beyond literal representation. BENEATH THE SURFACE: ENERGY, EMOTION & EXPRESSION 4 day workshop Monday 14 — Thursday 17 September ​ This immersive workshop invites you to work beneath the surface — where emotion, intuition and energy shape expression. Through journaling and sketching from nature and from your internal responses to it, you’ll build a personal visual language that feeds directly into studio practice. Drawing and painting form the foundation for experimental mark making, layered surfaces and the integration of written words.
