In recognition of Volunteer Week, weâd like to acknowledge the many members of our team who generously dedicate their personal time to supporting their local communities.
From junior sport and disability support, to homelessness services, aged care, charity groups, and community organisations - our people continue to make a meaningful impact well beyond the workplace.
We are proud to have a team whose values extend into the broader community.
Your commitment, compassion and leadership reflect the culture we strive to build every day.
Thank you for making a difference and keep up the good work!
đ Today we celebrate the important contribution that our Sunshine Coast Manager, Mark Kemen, has made to our team!
2ď¸âŁ0ď¸âŁ years ago, he started as an apprentice at Scapeshapes, learning the trade from the ground up before becoming a foundational part of Greenwood Landscape Management, helping build the business on the Gold Coast and delivering projects across the region with a reputation for getting the job done.
đą His next challenge was establishing Greenwoodâs presence on the Sunshine Coast, expanding the footprint and opening the door to bigger opportunities. Following LD Totalâs acquisition of the business across both regions, Mark now plays a key role in leading construction and maintenance operations north of Brisbane. With strong local connections and decades of experience, he continues to build trusted relationships and deliver high-quality landscape outcomes across the Sunshine Coast.
đ 20 years on, itâs the same approach: experience, reliability, and a can-do attitude.
đ Congratulations Mark!

The La Valle Community in Henley Brook, WA, just welcomed its latest outdoor edition.
Designed and constructed by our team, the Petrana Precinct is built around the premise of combining both function and play within a community space for residents to enjoy.
The development of this space required our team to strategically place the play equipment above the projected flood levels- maintaining the drainage function of the Public Open Space.
Features of the Petrana Precinct include a custom concrete play wall inspired by the developmentâs rock-themed streets, combination play equipment, integrated nature play, shade structures, picnic settings, and retained mature trees.
LD Total are proud to have delivered this project for Land Group WA.

âThey shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We will remember themâ.
Today we pause to reflect and remember the sacrifice of our ANZACâs and we think of those brave men and women still serving our country.
Lest We Forget
The @cityofswan recently engaged our WA Construction team to upgrade the Lookout at Bells nearby to Bells Rapid, a well-known trail made up of a series of waterfalls and streams that leads into a section of the Avon River. For locals and visitors, this new lookout provides the perfect spot to enjoy the amazing view of one of Perth's most famous hiking spots.
Even before the temporary fencing was removed and we handed over to council, people were queuing to be the first to enjoy the lookout!
Upgrade works included:
⢠Parking
⢠Shade
⢠Furniture
⢠Paving and pathways
⢠Stone walls
During construction, our team had to work with a challenging site that could only be accessed via a steep narrow area, so traffic control was required to safely manoeuvre materials and manage foot traffic throughout the duration of the project.
The before and after of this site is almost as impressive as the view itself.

Our Sunshine Coast team has delivered The Pocket in Morayfield â the 14th stage of works at Summerstone Estate for @fairlandcommunities , set within a stunning natural setting backing onto a creek and bushland.
We worked closely with our project partners to shape the landscape to fit its surroundings, reused site soil and mulch, and determined on-site levels to ensure a seamless integration with the environment.
Key features include:
đą Two bio-basins filtering stormwater before entering waterways
đł Extensive regeneration & revegetation works (managed over the next 3 years)
đŚ Habitat creation for local fauna, including koalas, kangaroos & birdlife
đż Street trees, entry signage & garden planting throughout
Despite site and environmental feats, the team delivered a high-quality outcome, something weâre incredibly proud of đ
A big shout out to some of our amazing partnerâs Logans Nursery for the awesome support and supply of plants/trees/shrubs, @gxoutdoorsaustralia for their amazing shelters and furniture and @urbanplayaustralia for their first-of-its-kind Goanna trap in Queensland and to Element Design.
Itâs partnerships like these that help shape the future of our communities.

đ Our Victorian team are proud to celebrate the achievements of our newly qualified Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanic, Niko Sarancic!
đ Niko has been a valued member of our team since 2019, starting out as a crew member doing general labour work, before working his way up to be a machine operator and Team Leader. He was then offered the opportunity to undertake his Mechanicâs apprenticeship which he jumped at, and he hasnât looked back since. Working on our fleet of vehicles, excavators, water trucks and mowers, no two days are the same.
đ Apart from the great job he does at LD Total, Nikoâs most important role is outside of work, as a father to his almost-one-year old son who keeps him on his toes!
đą With a number of apprentices currently undertaking their training with LD Total, we look forward to continuing our mission of developing the next generation of talent in the landscaping industry.
If youâre interested in joining our team, we currently have landscape apprentice opportunities available, please visit:

Today our WA team is celebrating Labour Day⌠but do you know the history behind this important day?
đ¨ The day was originally referred to as âEight Hours Dayâ then later changed to âLabour Dayâ to reflect a broader commitment to fair work, safety, and the union movement.
đˇââď¸ Labour Day in Australia commemorates the historic fight by stonemasons in Melbourne in 1856 who marched for workers' rights to:
8ď¸âŁ hours of labour,
8ď¸âŁ hours of recreation and
8ď¸âŁ hours of rest -
winding back the exploitation and oppressive working hours that were the norm during the Industrial Revolution.
Beyond its historical significance, it is a day to celebrate the Australian sense of fairness and equity, and our willingness to campaign side by side for a better world. đ
(NB: Labour Day holiday is held on different dates across Australia)
