I remember lying down in our incredibly comfortable bed and looking around the room at the details that brought so much warmth to the space: the art work above the fireplace, the layered textiles, the chandelier, and the outline of the bed posts, to name a few. I thought to myself, “This feels like my actual primary bedroom, or at least what I’d dream of it looking like.” I love boutique hotels for this very reason. Every detail, experience and interaction feels very curated and thoughtful. It’s one of those places that you have to experience first-hand to understand. It’s certainly the people and the marks they left here that make the place. @thedouglas.savannah

We eased our way into the evenings @thedouglas.savannah with nightly complimentary canapés and cocktails at the hotel’s private bar and ended with card games in the parlor by the fireplace. Y’all know I love card games during my travels and this custom deck was a perfect touch.

Sometimes driving just two hours out of town can be enough of a getaway for a few days, but when it involves a stay at @thedouglas.savannah it feels even more luxurious. The Douglas is a boutique hotel new to Savannah as of last year, but the building itself holds many different chapters of history since its beginning as a private residence in the 1850s. Newly restored and thoughtfully designed (@kirby.caldwell.inc ), this place truly feels like home away from home. Walking throughout this hotel instantly feels like it’s your own space for hosting, living, and relaxing. The hallways are grand, the parlor sparks conversation, and the private bar feels like stumbling upon the best hidden gem in town (which it is).
