LCLAA joined 36 labor, civil rights, and advocacy organizations in sending a letter to @SenatorMartinHeinrich firmly opposing efforts to diminish the legacy of the Farmworker Movement through the abolishment of the César Chávez National Monument. While recent revelations about César Chávez are deeply painful, troubling, and warrant a critical reexamination of his legacy, eliminating the National Monument is not the appropriate way to address these issues. Doing so would contribute to the erasure of the Latino and Asian American leaders, activists, and, most importantly, workers who organized strikes, endured hunger, and, in some cases, gave their lives in the pursuit of dignity and justice. We support the ongoing legislative efforts by @SenAlexPadilla and @RepRaulRuizMD to establish a more thoughtful and comprehensive framework for interpreting the movement’s history through a broader and more accurate lens — one that is not centered solely on any one individual. ✊🏽La Unión Somos Todos❤️‍🔥 Read the full letter here: https://bit.ly/4wvuTzQ #LCLAA #Unions #Labor #Farmworkers

📣Yesterday, LCLAA said presente alongside Dreamers, DACA recipients, allies, and @senatordurbin , @senalexpadilla , and @senmarkkelly to demand action against growing and unprecedented threats to Dreamers, including DACA renewal delays, detention, and deportation. These attacks on DACA are putting thousands of Dreamers’ jobs, livelihoods, and families at risk. From classrooms to hospitals to construction sites, our communities depend on DACA recipients and Dreamers every single day. Since 2012, LCLAA has and will continue to stand with Dreamers. Congress must do its part for permanent protections, a path to citizenship. Pass the Dream Act now. 📢Communities across the country are coming together to protect constitutional rights, immigrant communities, and demand accountability. Through programs like 287(g) agreements, local police and sheriffs are being pulled into federal immigration enforcement, turning community institutions into extensions of local immigration enforcement. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Local officials have the power to say no and people across the country are organizing to make that happen. Be part of the movement! ✊🏾 Join us for a National Call on May 11 to learn how to engage your local sheriff, use organizing tools, and take action in your community. 🗓️May 11– 7 pm ET, 6pm CT, 5pm MT, and 4pm PT 🚨RSVP and register here: https://loom.ly/TH6Gj_0 #LCLAA

Behind every hardworking mother is a story of sacrifice. ❤️ On Mother's Day, many mothers won't get to celebrate at a restaurant, around a dinner table, or surrounded by family — because family separation has taken them away. ✨ To every mother carrying the weight of distance, uncertainty, and sacrifice: We see you, we honor you, and we stand with you. Families belong together — on Mother's Day and every day! 💐This Mother’s Day, take action and stand with detained mothers. Help provide clean water, medicine, and phone calls to lawyers and loved ones for mothers in detention. Every contribution is an act of solidarity that brings dignity, care, and connection during an incredibly difficult time.: https://bit.ly/4wbKUux (Link in bio) #LCLAA #mothersday #happymothersday #workingmothers
