I can’t believe a month came & went. Time moves too quickly. I needed to jump on here and do a recap of a lovely month long pop up @orozco_gallery in @downtownithaca . This is my (@yenospina ) second year organizing this, and @debracastillo9324 was the biggest inspiration for this year. She championed me into starting this, and I’m going to try to keep it a yearly tradition. WE ARE LA VOZ II: RESILIENCE THROUGH ART CLOSING EXHIBITION 🗓️ Friday, May 1st | ⏰ 5–8 PM | 📍 115 S Cayuga St, Ithaca Join us for the closing of We Are La Voz II: Resilience Through Art, a vibrant and powerful group exhibition showcasing the work of Latine & Queer & BIPoC artists using textile arts as a form of resistance, storytelling, and cultural memory. Curated by @yenospina through her Nomadic Gallery, this month-long pop-up exhibition at @orozco_gallery celebrates fiber practices that uplift identity, heritage, and healing. From embroidery and felting to weaving and quilting, each artist explores the power of thread and fabric as tools of transformation and testimony. The closing reception will feature food by @zocalo_ithaca and refreshing non-alcoholic drinks from @openspaces . Attendees will have the chance to meet the artists, connect with the community, and learn about the gallery. Vieques: Archivo Vivo is a 2025 documentary film about the Puerto Rican people’s struggle against U.S. led militarization in the archipelago. The film is in Spanish with English subtitles. Join CUSLAR for a screening and live Q&A session with the director. Interpretation will be provided to make the conversation accessible to monolingual Spanish and English-speaking audiences.
