📖 Read-a-long 📖 ❓️Question time ❓️ Question 6. Chapter 19. Q. Are you a fan of "how-to" or guide books? If you were to write one, what would it be about? What would be your specialist subject? A. I'm not really a fan of how-to or guide books to be honest. Although I would use Google or YouTube to learn how to do something which I suppose is just the modern equivalent. My specialist subjects are the Holocaust and Harry Potter, neither of which are suited to a how-to book. There are already a ton of Harry Potter guide books, and I'm not sure 'A handy guide to the Holocaust' would sell! Book title: The Flight Author: Heather J Fitt Genre: Psychological Thriller | Thriller Pages: 240 Blurb: A young mother is trapped with a killer thirty thousand feet up, in this gripping midair murder mystery by the author of Open Your Eyes.   On a plane to Barbados, nurse Melissa sits with her young son, Theo. On the same flight, up in first class, are a bride- and groom-to-be, heading for their tropical wedding destination, accompanied by family and friends.   When two members of the wedding party die in mysterious circumstances, it becomes clear that a killer is on board. Trapped in the cabin thousands of feet above the Atlantic, tensions mount as accusations fly—and when little Theo seems to vanish into thin air, this bizarre flight becomes even more turbulent . . .   Will Melissa be able to use her medical knowledge to find her son and bring a cold-blooded killer to justice before it’;s too late? #Ad #BookReviewer #Bookstagram #Readalong #QuestionTime

#AD-PR BOOKSTAGRAM REVIEW MRS BENEDICT ARNOLD by @That_Emma_Parry It's been a long time since I studied American history, back in my Uni days, so it was fascinating to revisit the revolutionary days with Emma Parry's novel. I did have to keep reminding myself that this is a fictional reimagining - the research and period descriptions are so detailed, and factual events are woven in so tightly, you could easily imagine this is exactly what happened. I loved getting to know Peggy and seeing the events of the time through her eyes. Often war history is told from the men's perspective, so I really enjoyed being immersed in Peggy's world. The prose is so readable and engaging, it doesn't feel like a history lesson, but came out knowing much more than I did when I started, the fictional elements putting the facts into a context that's easy to understand . BLURB A riveting reimagining of the young woman who almost ended the American Revolution. Philadelphia in the 1770s. Peggy Shippen longs for the war she’s living through to end. Though not always appreciated at home, she finds her curiosity is welcomed by a lively and influential circle of friends, including a glamorous rising star in the British army, Captain John André. When the war separates them, Peggy is devastated—both by his absence and the horrors of ongoing conflict—before finding consolation in a man whose heroics for the Patriots have captured the world’s imagination: General Benedict Arnold. As she trades Loyalist balls for Patriot salons, entertaining the most prominent figures of early America, and navigating the country’s lethal political currents, she conceives of an audacious scheme to achieve peace and her family’s survival, unleashing what would become the most famous act of treason in history. When uncertainty and bloodshed are the only constants, Mrs. Benedict Arnold asks, how far will one woman go for safety? #LBTCrew #Bookstagram #FreeBookReview

🧡 Love Book Tours - I'm On The Tour 🧡 I am really looking forward to diving into To Be Frank by @christie.kevan and being part of the blog tour along with my lovely fellow bookstgrammers. Thank you to @lovebookstours , @lbt.crew and the publisher @thebookguildpublishing for my place on the tour 🧡🧡 I'll be posting my review on 23rd May. See the blurb below: Blurb  A controversial journalist, his estranged daughter in a crime syndicate, and a reformed thug with a dark past collide in Edinburgh’s underworld. As they navigate family secrets, redemption, and betrayal, their hidden truths threaten to destroy them. A darkly comic crime thriller blending journalism, ageing, addiction, and organised crime.  Fifty-something newspaper columnist, Frank Savage, pens a controversial piece calling for dogs and babies to be banned from cafés as his swansong to journalism. Instead of being dismissed, the column catapults him to stardom—and into further trouble. On a night out, Frank spots his arch-enemy, Brewster, 56—an apparently reformed racist, homophobic football hooligan turned drug dealer, now a respected figure in the local community—whom he blames for his brother’s death. This coincides with the arrival of his eldest daughter, Naomi, whom Frank hasn’t seen for years. A genius with numbers, she works for an organised crime syndicate in London, headed by the Wise One, but is desperate to break free and go straight. The Syndicate places Naomi in the seaside town of Portobello, Edinburgh, to work alongside Brewster, overseeing their money laundering operation. As Naomi and Frank grow closer and begin to heal old wounds, neither realises they are both hiding secrets that would devastate the other. #Ad #LBTCrew #Bookstagram #FreeBookReview

💌📖 BOOK MAIL 📖💌 Eeeeek arrived home late Friday night to some very exciting book mail from @lovebookstours @thecotswoldwriter - A Fatal Austen Affair by Anna A Armstrong and I am super excited to be on the book tour for this 😍 I have discovered a love of mystery books since joining Bookstagram so I cannot wait to read this - review coming 2nd June ✨ Here’s the blurb 👇 “Spring has come to Bath… bringing romance, revelry – and a whisper of danger. When her beloved vicar falls for a mysterious online suitor, Dee FitzMorris isn’t convinced it’s a fairytale. So when Virginia heads to Bath to meet the elusive “Mr Darcy,” Dee follows – with her daughter Zara in tow. But beneath the elegance of Regency gowns and sunlit promenades, vulnerable women are disappearing. Detective Inspector Nicholas Corman is already investigating, yet the case is as elusive as ever. As the mystery deepens, so do matters of the heart: Zara and Nicholas struggle with their growing feelings, complicated by the return of his formidable ex-wife, while Amelia and the ever-charming Josh dance around a romance neither will quite admit. With love blossoming at every turn, it’s almost enough to distract from the mystery – almost. But when danger strikes closer to home, the FitzMorris family can’t help but get involved… Witty, warm and full of charm, this final FitzMorris mystery is a delightful blend of romance, intrigue and Regency splendour.” Haven’t read any of Anna’s books before but this sounds right up my street 🙌😍 #lovebooktours #thecotswoldwriter #lbtcreew #bookstagram #bookreview

A Dream Life - Wendy Swift Format: Digital Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What an incredible memoir. When I started the book I thought what a fascinating life, full of travel and adventure and I almost wished I was born in that 60's and 70's era because @wendyjswiftauthor made it seem magical. And then it didn't. I was floored by the next bit - and utterly amazed at how she survived this. I thought she did an incredible job of retelling this unbelievable story. I was struck with the harsh reality that in a blink of an eye your life can go a different route that you would have never expected. This was eye opening and I commend her for putting her story to page - it was indeed a dream life! #ad #Bookstagram #freebookreview #lbtcrew #tiffanystales

Thank you to Love book Tours and Emma Parry for my physical copy to read and review. Peggy Shppen is a real-life women who played a key role in the American Revolution. She married Benedict Arnold a key figure on the Patriots side and was involved in the conspiracy for him to swap sides and join the British Loyalists. It is thought she was paid for her role in his change in sides. I very much enjoy historical fiction that is based on true events. My knowledge of the American revolution is a bit sketchy, so I had to do a bit of online background reading first to set the scene. It took a while for me to get into this book – mainly due to my lack of knowledge and there are a lot of characters to get to know. It also took time to get to the main plot but this is necessary to set the scene. I particularly enjoyed some of this scene setting – the clothes, the parties, the social expectations of the time. I also enjoyed Peggy’s interactions with John Arnold who engineered the events. I imagine him to be dashing and clever and very impressive. This book really brings Peggy to life and gave me an insight into a woman who played a key role in events. Needless to say, her story is not that well known, and it is these background stories from history that I enjoy reading. A must read for fans of Hamilton and those interested in the American revolution.

Forfeit by Clive Stephens ♟️ Book Review 🐷📚 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 📝 What an adventure I’ve been on with, not just Forfeit but, the entire trilogy. I can honestly say I’m excited to read more from Clive and more sci-fi in general. I was apprehensive going into the final instalment because 1, was I still going to be confused and 2, what was going to happen to Jason and Sally but I’m so glad I was accepted on to the tour because this is the best book in the series and the perfect way to end. Throughout the series, I loved watching Sally and Jason’s growth, strength and resilience as they are traverse an uncertain and unpredictable world, helping me piece together the complexity of the story. This will be a story I remember and think about often. I am also planning on rereading as I feel (like I said before), it’s like the film Inception, a second read and I may pick up on things I missed first time or understand it better. Thank you Clive for creating such an immersive, engaging and thrilling sci-fi/time travel adventure that had me captivated and, at times, emotional. I will definitely buy a physical copy to complete the series. #Ad #LBTCrew #Bookstagram #freebookreview

Thanks #lovebookstours for my #gifted copy in return for an honest review #freebookreview #lbtcrew #ad Blurb in comments My thoughts I love a romance set in the snow, and this has all the cosy, wintry vibes but the heat is dialled up to the top quickly and I'm surprised they dont melt all that snow! We meet Lucy who gets a job at a ski chalet for a wealthy family and Jake, friend of said family who's staying there too. As well as these two we meet some of Lucy's friends and family from home, and the family who's chalet she is staying at and some new friends who live in the area and they all clearly have interesting back stories and will make for exciting books should the author carry on this series following them (I sure hope she does!) I love a romance which follows the misunderatanding format, and this one is a doozy! I do wish we had seen a bit more of the reunion and explanation rather than skipping ahead. I do like an epilogue though so was glad to see that! I think what I liked most here was the characters and their relationships. I think this is something the author has done a fabulous job with. I believe this is a debut piece of work, and its very impressive, I look forward to reading more from this author in the future! Author bio Anlyn Miller writes contemporary romance, with a generous dash of spice, and characters who love fiercely and feel deeply. She’s a dreamer with a love of the happy-ever-after. When she isn’t tucked away in a corner writing, Anlyn is a mother, wife, sister, and friend, and you’ll find her walking in the woods with her loyal Labradoodle.
