Luciana Rondolini (Buenos Aires, 1976)
The perfect picture series
2021 - Ongoing.
Paper, graphite, plaster.
Oscillating between figuration and abstraction, Rondolini aims to capture the ambiguous emotions stirred within us by the ‘picture-perfect effect’: the psychological impact of viewing, creating, or using digitally manipulated images to achieve flawless, unrealistic beauty standards, often resulting in lower body image and increased social comparison, particularly on social media.
Concerned with social psychology, she is interested in how gender constructs are influenced by factors such as fashion, bodily ornamentation and aesthetic treatments. These elements shape our impressions, formation, attributions and social perceptions within society. Furthermore, the context in which attributes are perceived profoundly reinforces gender roles and stereotypes, her works thus allow the viewer to reflect on how they themselves contribute to preconceptions, perpetuating this inequality.

🍃 We welcomed back artist, curator and educator Sarah Sparkes ( @thesarahsparkes ) to Snaresbrook Arts Project ( @snaresbrookartsproject ) for her second workshop with S.A.P last week.
Inspired by celebrations from around the world to welcome Spring, such as May Day, Holi and Hanami, Sarah worked with our service users to create beautiful masks and garlands to mark the new season. 🍃
~
Sarah Sparkes’ work engages with magical or mythical narratives, vernacular belief systems, the visualisation of anomalous phenomena and liminality through the metaphor of the portal. Her work is often research led and an exploration into the borderlands where science and magic intersect.
She works with installation, sculpture, painting, performance and more recently film.
Sparkes holds an MA and BA from Chelsea College of Art and Design and Kingston University respectively, she is an Associate Lecturer at UAL and has been visiting lecturer and educator for numerous institutions including the Tate Gallery.
~
Snaresbrook Arts Project (SAP), founded in 2008, is a day service supporting adults with learning difficulties through arts and crafts.
The visiting artist workshops at S.A.P are facilitated and organised by @lbcuratorial .

Mau Samayoa
‘presentación’
22 x 33 x 1cm
Sculpted paper, drawings on paper, photographs and other materials.
2024.
‘presentación’ was shown in PASSENGERS, Oct - Dec 2025, curated by @parallellondon with @lbcuratorial in DSQube, part of @dsq_london .
Samayoa‘s work explores the intricate relationship between memory and information, focusing on how personal experiences can be processed and transcribed into visual forms.
His ‘Memory Bundles’ series collate layers of accumulated documents that the artist has travelled with since migrating from El Salvador to Argentina, and then to the UK. The end result is a non-linear story of different events, ideas and places, not only the artist’s but appropriated from other sources.
The majority of the documents are extremely personal, but not all - the artist combining other people’s memories with his own, using magazines, newspapers, and random objects. Through these visual transformations, his practice gestures toward a liminal space where form and recollection collide, reverberating with the rhythms of time and migration.
He has exhibited extensively across the U.K and internationally including Miami, New York and Buenos Aires, amongst others. His work was recently acquired by the Cleaveland Clinic Art Collection, NYC. He has completed residencies at both Flat8 Gallery, Birmingham, United Kingdom, 2018-2019 and Piramidón Centre D’Art Contemporani, Barcelona, May-June 2022.

Leo Babsky interviews Argentinian visual artist Lucila Sancineti for @crushfanzine .
Sancineti explores the intimacy of matter and the body in her artistic practice, inviting a tactile encounter with porous surfaces and fostering connections with otherness through fragments like scales, crusts, and fossils. These remnants evoke suspended states of transformation, embodying a temporal paradox. Her pieces become poetic attempts to grasp the ungraspable - an elusive flow of change and metamorphosis.
In 2025 she was a resident at GlogauAIR in Berlin, Germany. She has been the recipient of the Hito Cultural Grant (2024), the Constelaciones Grant to participate in the Poliniza and Epecuén residencies (2023), and the ‘Activar Patrimonio’ grant to develop her research project at the Museo Nacional de la Historia del Traje (2023).
