I'm very excited to share with you that I have a new book in the works with
@tarcher_books ! 🎉 Inspired by my lifelong experience with anxiety and a tendency for catastrophic overthinking, THE ROAD LESS ANXIOUS is a choose-your-own-adventure style book that gently guides readers out of anxiety spirals.
This project is very personal to me. I've struggled with anxiety for as long as I can remember, from obsessive-compulsive disorder to health anxiety to existential dread to postpartum anxiety. Whether it’s losing days to googling medical symptoms, obsessing over every mole/bump/sensation on my body, doomscrolling news articles, feeling paralyzed by mortality, believing intrusive thoughts, or researching experimental treatments for the food allergy my daughter does not have, I am no stranger to negative thoughts that escalate into all-consuming preparations for absolute worst-case scenarios.
When I'm stuck in loops of worry, I crave comfort and camaraderie, so I created THE ROAD LESS ANXIOUS to be like a gentle friend right there with you in the trenches of spiraling. Equally an interactive guide and coloring book, it offers company, comfort, guidance, and knowledge in an analog alternative to going online, because when has turning to Google or Reddit for answers ever ended well?
Through personal research, commissioned freelance work, and undergoing cognitive behavioral therapy, I have become fascinated by the scientific concept of neuroplasticity, or the science of how we can rewire our brains. THE ROAD LESS ANXIOUS draws inspiration from this, reflecting the power we have in choosing how to interact with our anxious thoughts.
