NASC’s SG4 Preventing Falls in Scaffolding Operations is the UK scaffolding industry’s key guidance for preventing falls from height.
Since its inception in the early 1990s it has led to an 89% decrease in falls from height for scaffolders. ⛑️🦺
Together with Layher Ltd (UK) we demonstrated a method for scaffolders to work in compliance with SG4, using the scaffsteps method on a 2.5m x 2.5m x 2.0m Layher system scaffold. The team are also on hand to discuss all aspects of SG4 and NASC’s plan for the release of a new SG4 digital video and two SG4 posters in 2026.

🏗️ Project Progress Update from Skill Scaffolding HQ
We’re proud to share another exciting milestone from the Skill Scaffolding team!
Earlier this year, we were awarded a two-year contract by our long-standing client Balfour Beatty, a leader in innovative student accommodation developments across the UK. The project, based in Winchester, involves the construction and refurbishment of 97 student accommodation units—a major undertaking we’re thrilled to support.
Phase One is now nearing completion—on schedule and to the highest standards. From early-stage planning through to execution, Skill Scaffolding has delivered efficient, effective solutions that meet the complex access and safety requirements of the site.
A key contributor to our success has been our collaboration with Layher UK and the use of their advanced system scaffolding. By tailoring scaffold designs to the project’s unique needs, we’ve ensured safe, reliable access throughout every stage of the build.
