I sat down with Lawrence Bender, @lawrencebender the legendary Oscar-nominated producer behind films like Pulp Fiction, Inglourious Basterds, and now the groundbreaking series Red Alert about the October 7 massacre, picked up by @paramountplus . In our conversation, Bender explains why it is not “too soon” to tell this story, how art shapes the information war, and why the show is rooted in the real testimonies of survivors even as it uses dramatic form. He describes the balance between honoring the truth and protecting viewers from the unimaginable brutality that actually took place, noting that the production intentionally kept much of the horror off-screen because the reality was “beyond imaginationally bad.”

Producer @lawrencebender — known for “Good Will Hunting,” “Inglourious Basterds,” and his longtime collaboration with Quentin Tarantino — takes on one of the most difficult stories of his career with Red Alert, a four-part Paramount+ series about the real families whose lives were shattered on October 7.

Last night, I had the honor of speaking at the @Paramountplus screening of RED ALERT—a powerful, scripted limited series about the harrowing truth of October 7.
Alongside executive producer @LawrenceBender , I shared my story as a hostage advocate and as the author of Saving Abigail—a book I never wanted to write, but knew I had to.
This series portrays the trauma of October 7. So chillingly close to my family’s own experience it also reminds us of the 48 hostages still waiting to come home.
