In high school I took a Middle Eastern literature class. When the day came to learn about Irans history / history of the Islamic revolution, my teacher asked me at 17 years old to teach the class. This was easy for me cause it felt like retelling the history of myself. As a first generation Persian American, the love I have for my families physical land runs in my blood — my bed time stories were those of old Persia. Iran was built on the foundation of peace, love, humanity, poetry, critical thinking and science. It was built on the backs of strong women.
I cry all the time thinking about the last 47 years of Islamic torture. Of women being a single note and the world becoming so scared of a culture and people so amazing. If not for myself and my future but for my parents and my grandfather who just turned 100 years old I will watch the Islamic regime fall. And I can’t wait to return to a free Iran with you all ❤️ to the brave men and women fighting and dying for us, thank you isn’t enough. #freeiran
